Noted.

He can flat blade at a modest penalty. But he missed, anyway.
I mentioned pulling out the short sword and the shield and going chop-chop on suspected buddies. Wouldn't have killed without more confirmation though. Sure, they DO seem like squatters and trespassers, but Fild has done the same a few times and thankfully nobody shot arrows at him.
He also doesn't absolutely trust Aldon's story. Sure he's a bigshot and sure, some people accosted him. Could be something else going on. Those people may also not be directly responsible. Even if they ARE directly responsible... they are robbers. They were about to go rob people themselves.

He's not that hardened (at 1st lvl) to just go and carve people up without being sure they're going to do that to him. Evidence points towards them being baddies, but there's a 10% chance we're just killing squatters or people paid by the robbers to guard their backs.

More or less... he thinks there was a good chance THEIR group could have been in such a place a few weeks ago.

All of which makes sense. Just double checking. A boom and a flash will attract more attention than a swat with a sword's flat side.

And it's not reversible. Like an arrow to the head. And expensive.

Yeah.

BOOMSTICK for big stuff. Battle. Or scaring people. Or stubborn locks, maybe.

Will hold to give Adam a chance to declare surprise round action.

Damien (on NPC mode ) continues pulling security from a hiding spot.
He will help if the party gets in trouble.

Untrained observation check for Damien

[dice]0[/dice]

No extra details noted. He can see and hear anything anybody looking and listening in his position would normally notice.
(The check was for extra clues, subtle things, etc)

The act with Tom downing the guy that looked suspicious brings to my mind two instances from a long, long ago Ravenloft game with my sister's invoker (3E):

- Tavern in a small village. Bully village guard plays tough and threatens the mage that if he doesn't pay the fine, there'll be violence. The 7th+ lvl mage raises his hands, touched at the thumbs. Burning hands. In a tavern. Against a 2nd lvl warrior and his side-kick. Surprised when they both die. "If they were so weak, they shouldn't have asked for the fine!" she said to me as her wizard, without remorse, put out the fires and left the tavern. To this day she doesn't understand why she rolled a power check for grievous assault.

- Expensive Inn, Nevuchar springs, years later. The invoker returns to his room, listens something from inside. Kicks the door open and sees a group of people with masks (5-6) messing with his things. Chain lightning, no questions asked. No offer for surrender. No quarter. One evades (3E rogue) and goes for the window. Poor guy... Mage hits him in the back with empowered lighting bolt, taking the window (and part of the next building) with the rogue.
That was the end of the Nevuchar springs thieves guild, being hired (by FoS or Kargat, I forget) to peruse what this strange 14th lvl wizard has with him. They were rogues of 2nd-4th lvl, except the guildmaster that was 6th lvl (and got the 14d6 from the chain-lighting).

Moral of the story: DO NOT look suspicious at the wrong time, especially if you can't take what my sister's character can dish out.

Heheeee.

Tom was a thief-catcher and repo man, after all. His job put him at odds with rascals and ne'er do wells.

This is why a smart innkeeper buys lightning and fire insurance.

Wizards keep it trill.

Well, one thing is sure nobody asked my PC fines or searched my stuff ever again! The thing is that my PC was alone at the room with 5-6 rogues that didn't even know their level so didn't want to risk even if the PC was 14 level.

As about Tom he sees Gertie throwing something on the man and he knows that he could have yelled or attacked her soon after, so he is also protecting her. Apart of that yes Aldron maybe has secret goals but still people in a lonely house with a well full of vines so not actually functional is the thugs we are looking for in my books.

Well, perhaps we should try to capture the next ones we'll see. Or offer them a chance to surrender.

No mercy!!! :P

But yeah next time will give them that chance also with one down is more probable for them to surrender :)

OK Tom has ready action to attack if they come outside with weapons. If they surrender he will not shoot of course.

CHA check for persuasion.

Persuasion attempt takes effect--- or does not--- top of next round.

Adam gets an action first.

In the meantime, you may declare provisional/ contingency actions now, in OOC.

Stuff like " I shoot arrows if they fight us and I have a clear shot, otherwise melee."

Or "I hide in the vines and avoid fighting, but will sap a guy across the back of his noggin if he walks past unaware of me"

She sees what was described in her POV post, IC.

Not everything. Angle of the roof gets in the way.

Guy's feet sticking out from direction of the door, maybe.

She does not know if that guy is alive or dead.

Indeed, none of you know that.
