Hazlan: Chapter Four
The robed man appears to mull over Valerian's words. "Very well then" he scoffs "To the Inn with you lot and out of Hazlan at first light, lest we take you into custody and Lord Hazlik learns of you. Traveler indeed. " He eyes the party again, then with a word to the militia accompanying him, leaves. He looks back once as if remembering you all, and heads in an opposite direction.

Cornelius spoke:
''Maybe it is odd, Van- then again, maybe it isn't. Those folk were all staring at me like they'd never seen a dwarf before. Perhaps they haven't. It could just be that we are obviously foreigners, and are travelling about armed. We must look strange to these people.''

Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Lucius approaches Valerian and without speaking too loudly, he comments
"That was a masterful display, friend. I hope we can find all we need here so that we can leave this land quickly. Organized militias really aren't our game, I'm afraid. So, shall we go to the inn?"
Then, he turned to Van and Cornelius and in a similarly discreet tone, he said
"Van, I value your knowledge very much, and you seemed to know something about this land. So, how is magic viewed here? If I have to hide my Ezrite side, I want to know if I have to be cautious about the arcane knowledge too... I think that would interest the three of us, right?"

William, who has been walking around like a child at a carnival looking indiscriminately about the city as the group makes their way to the inn, suddenly snaps out of his lull as the militia men question his friends.
He edges his way closer to the front of the party as it looks as if the militia men have had their questioning answered.
"What was that all about?" He asks no one in general. Assuming someone tells him, William then begins to pay closer attention to his immediate surroundings, letting the Hazlani wonders pass by as the group makes their way into the inn.

Van turns to Lucius and says:
"Well, as far as you know, it is well viewed. There is a magic school here in Ramulai. The people here might have problem with you and Valerian because you worship Ezra, not because you or us, the wizards, cast spells. I would avoid casting spells though, we are strangers and they don't seem to like us. It's better get the less attention possible."

Draven shudders under this cloak, he feels cold despite the balmy temperature of the air. Van's declaration earlier has not eased his mind at all, in fact it is all he can do to put one foot in front of the other towards the inn.
The militia incident is an uneeded inconvenience nad he shrinks back beofre their gazes. Alhtough he does note with interest the robed man. Vans talk of magic almost gets cogs working in his tortured mind School of magic, tattoos, it might be important he thinks silently.
Just then a wave of nausea comes over him, damn, not now, damn the morphine!.
Speaking in a cracked voice, he says to the others "Lets get off these streets before we attract more attention. I for one need something to calm my nerves. This way." With that he leads them down a small alleyway towarsd the Inn.

Draven leads you through the maze of streets. As you pass through the streets, you begin to realise how much of a maze Ramulai really is. You come up to an edifice. In Vaasi, the sign reads Zravgev.
As you enter the Inn, people look at you strangely, whispering amongst themselves. You approach the Innkeeper. He looks you up and down from head to toe. "What might I do for you this evening?"

Van looks around for a moment but makes no comment about the curious people who stare at them. Then he comes closer to the innkeepers desk and says politely:
"Greetings kind sir, do you have any empty rooms? We are travellers and we'd like to have a hot meal and comfortable bed for one night. Tomorrow morning we are going to leave."

While Van talks, Cornelius takes a walk around the room. He inspects the building's construction, ignoring the patrons' whispers and stares.

The Innkeeper seems to look with disdain at the party, then looks at Van and responds. "Yes, I do have rooms. 5 silver each. And please do vacate the premises at first light. We don't tolerate lollygaggers or people such as you." He waits for payment, eyeing you all suspiciously."Greetings kind sir, do you have any empty rooms? We are travellers and we'd like to have a hot meal and comfortable bed for one night. Tomorrow morning we are going to leave."
As Cornelius observes the buildings construction he comes to quickly realise that this building, as most the others in Ramulai, were most definitely built magically. The reason being quite simple. The buildings seem to rise from the vale's living stone. Notwithstanding the fact that the streets are channels cut in the bedrock. While Van talks, Cornelius takes a walk around the room. William does indeed notice how the upperclass, tattooed men and women do ont even address the lower class Rashemani. It is very apparent the ones who have ans the ones who have not.
Your lodgings paid, you take the stairs to your rooms.
As the group is shown to their respective rooms, Lucius approaches Tara.
"Could I talk with you for a moment, miss? "
Then, thinking of the best way to approach the still stranger girl without giving the wrong impression, but failing to find innocent enough words, he added
"I'd like to know a bit more of you, since you'll be travelling with us and all. I don't mind if the others join in, but that, of course, is up to you."

Up until now, Tara had remained quiet. Best speak when they were in a more private setting. Tried as she may, the last thing she remembered from Barovia was retiring for the night at her parents home in Immol. Then she awoke on the road, with these strangers. Who are they? And why was she with them? Questions better asked in a more private setting. Especially in Ramulai. Of all places these people could chose, it had to be here.As the group is shown to their respective rooms, Lucius approaches Tara.

Maybe it has something to do with the strange dreams I have been having lately of this dark haired man with those piercing, almost hypnotic eyes. If they've brought me here I think it is for my safety as they look to be relived in being gone from Barovia. I can't say I blame them.
Coming from her reverie she looks at Lucius shyly. Speaking in a low voice she says "I think it best if we settle into our rooms then rejoin in one room. I strongly suggest it even. This is not a safe place for foreigners, believe me. That robed man wasn't lying when he told you to be gone in the morning."
Looking around nervously she whispers to the party "Let's meet back in my room in ten minutes." Turning she heads for her door, looking around nervously yet again. Placing the key in the lock, she opens the door. Looking back, she nods at the party and disappears inside her room, closing the door behind her. You hear the distinctive sound of the door being locked.
