I'm BAAAACCKK!!!

After a good eighteen-plus months away I'm ready come back to the Cafe. When I last chimed in I mentioned some work on other online projects. Unfortunately things didn't work out that way. After some rather painful inner searching on a personal front, a lot of new World of Darkness with my gaming group that explored ideas I can't really detail here due to the Grandma Rule (at least, I doubt my grandmother would be comfortable reading about them), and just plain maturing I've finally decided to return here and pick up where I left off. If for only my own personal edification, I want to finish off the Journals and bring the stories to a close.

With that out of the way, I'll be posting as time permits.

Ugh! Capcom, why did you take so long to release Resident Evil 2 Remake?! Now I have to rewrite the fiction (not posted yet) surrounding those events for the Gothic Journals! But I can't do that until the game is released. And after everything that's gone on with game studios over the past year...well, yeah, I'm going to buy a copy. After the PC version has been patched.

Anyway, I've started and scrapped more versions of the story surround Gamma Squad during the events of RE 6 more times than I care to think about. This isn't a simple Journal post; it's supposed to be a mini-novel length story. But I just can't get the story to flow the way I want it to. I haven't had this much trouble writing a story in years.

This post is in response to some yahoos on YouTube who keep trying to argue that writing prompts for "AI art" makes them artists. Especially on Den of the Drake's videos. I post there under the name Ernest Lemmingway and I wholeheartedly disagree with the idea that using LLM to create the end product makes you any sort of artist. It's a tool meant to enhance already-extant art as Drake himself says in his video titled AI 'Artist' Goes BERSERK Over D&D.

If you read my post there and are coming here to verify, then good on you for doing more than most randos online ever would. Yes, I know this a copy-paste of my same message in the Lost Journals Comments thread.

Others may have noticed I removed several posts there. It's because I was unhappy with the direction I was taking the story and want to rewrite things to better reflect what I want to do and also have learned about the chronology of events detailed in Resident Evil Revelations 2. Canonically, they take place a year after when I dated them and I felt it needed to be done properly.

Hello!
I've seen this fanfic around since I got on the website (which was almost a year ago), but I was kinda scared away by the sheer amount of chapters I'd have to catch up with. It looks like three novels' worth of text. And, like, I love a good series, but I'd like to know what it's about before I start reading.
So like,
!) Is this Gothic Earth or Ravenloft?
2) What's the plot, without too many spoilers?
3) Who are the main characters?
4) Is there any previous lore I need to know for context?
