Ironheart bleaks his teeth...

Tin-star #!- ''I...errr...no, you'll have to surrender those. I'm sorry, but it's the law.''

Tin star #2 doesn't say anything, at least no words come out when he opens his mouth. He just look at Ironheart with a wide-eyed expression of fear, and then turns his gaze toward his over-eager companion, shaking his head in a silent 'no''.]

Rardi doesn't really want a scene here. Of course these men are merely doing their jobs, nothing more. Perhaps Ironheart doesn't know the laws of the city. That was all fine and dandy by her. She decided to step in to prevent the scene degenerating. As she did have her badge, she appraoched the two nervous men and Ironheart.

"Scuse me fer interruptin', gents. I be Rardi Silverhelm newly appointed to the militia 'ere'" she flashes her badge. She steps between Ironheart and the two scared men, sideways looking at Ironheart. "Pardon me fer tha interruption, but I couldn't help overhear. You are new to the city of Marsember aren't ye." This was a fact not a question.

Rardi's tone is relaxed and her demeanor friendly. She isn't afraid of Ironheart, but is putting herself in his place understinding his opinion. "Listen, sir." She goes on to explain the law about weapons to Ironheart. Once done she tells him "I'll tell ye what. If'n ye accompany me ta the warehouse, I'll get ye yer papers right away an ye kin come
back 'ere in no time an enjoy a nice meal. Tha treat is on me. Ye kin e'en join me an me pals over there" she points to the table where everyone else is. She winks at Archedius and beckons him over.

When the soldier comes over, he introduces his friend. "This be a warrior like yerself. Ye prolly gots lots in common, too. His name is Archedius. I dinna git yer name, tho. I am glad ta meetcha tho."

Shana winces and then puts on a reassuring smile

"looks guys, this warrior's just signing on with Inovidil here... she's in the militia. He's going to be legal in just a few minutes. Is it really worth going through the trouble of disarming him, just to give them back in a few heartbeats?"

Shana radiates reassurance and trustworthiness.

"Have some sense, Son. There is one of you, and an entire city full of mercenaries, cutthroats and mages. I've seen the combative types before, the foolish ones die early, the ones that learn restraint make something of themselves.

If you want the chance to die properly, let them do their job, and let me buy you a drink."

Archedius grabs the timid militiaman and brings him forward towards the temarious barbarian.

The two militiamen seem momentarially stunned by the deluge of words. After a bit of confusuion, they agree to let well enough alone.

#1 ''Well...if he's signing up....''

#2 ''Yes, yes! No need for all the trouble, we'll just drop it, no hassles!''

Inovidil smiles and showing her badge she says:

"Thank you very much. Indeed I'm in militia and I'm here to recruit my friends over there and of course Mr Ironheart if he wants to join."

Turning to address the barbarian she continues:

"If you are looking for new adventures and help this city, militia is the right choice for you and you can also keep your weapons. So what do you say?"

Archedius walks to the bar and purchases a small bottle of brandy for the group which he hopes will calm everyones nerves.

He starts to turn from the bar, stops midstride and asks the Innkeeper if he has any roasts available for him and his group.

One month earlier, Candlekeep, on the Sword Coast...

The interior of this vaulted stonework chamber is not unlike the last dozen through which the young man had been guided- huge, somewhat dusty, and packed with tall shelves. There must be something on the order of hundreds of books, scrolls and tablets in this room.

The monk acting as guide addresses the library's guest as he takes the man through the stacks, stopping now and again to check a title.

''I believe the work you are seeking is located in this room. ''

The monk speaks in a whisper. His moderated tone possibly uncalled for, though, because he and the guest would appear to be the only two persons in the room.

''The First Reader was most pleased with the rare copies of Balduran's logbooks and charts, by the way. He told one of the senior Avowed that this morning at tea, or so I heard. ''

The gray-robed monastic pulls a heavy tome down from one of the shelves and hands it to the visiting researcher.

''Ah, here is the title you had requested.

After handing off the tome, the librarian comments before departing,

''Well then, if you need anything else, just ask one of the acolytes, Master Redman.''

Inovidil smiles at Archedius and says:

"Indeed very kind of you! You seem a man that has travelled a lot, if I may ask this is your first time visiting Marsembar?"

At Shana's questions she just shrugs and says:

"I told you Shana, I wanted to help these people and of course be able to carry my lethal weapons with me! You cannot imagine how violent can be the militia if they find a dagger on you! Ask Rardi here we witnessed their stupid violence with out own eyes. So since I carry 1 dagger and a crossbow I don't want even think what will happen!"

Inovidil fills all the glasses and rising her own glass says:

"Cheers guys, I'm really happy to meet all of you here!"

Alain retrieves his glass of red wine from the table were he was sitting earlier and raises his glass in response to Inovidil's toast.
"Here, here." He says through a smile, his color returning to him as the tension seems to have dissolved.

"I'll drink to that!"

Shana takes the toast and relaxes back into her chair, crossing her ankles on the table

Ironheart shrugs.

''The city-men are small and weak. I will protect them and they will reward me with gold and silver. This is good.''

The barbarian raises an arm and the eagle resting on it takes flight, circling overhead before finding a perch on a stag's head that's mounted above the fireplace.
