Alain sits down to not so bland meal of food at the local inn . Letting Klokulf gather information about the local area . After his meal Alain will go and see what if he missed anything worthwhile to Expedition .

"Now if you would want to go there . I could guide you, but I most point out I have never been down into the stairs myself . I can see while I'm in there via my own senses without resorting to using a light source . Of course my services will not come cheap . At a minimum I expect a 25% share of any treasures we obtain down there or on our journey there ." Fala Replies

"As you would be the fourth member of the expedition," Klokulf replies, "a quarter share would not be unreasonable. However, when it comes to items of historical value, I would insist on first claim. Even if ultimately ceded as part of your share, I would like to examine and catalogue all such artifacts for posterity."

Klokulf begins to look around the common room. "We have a battle-mage in our company. I wonder if he has caught up with us."

ALAIN rejoins the party, and soon informs his comrades of rumors he's picked up. It seems monsters, maybe a whole gang of them, have been active in recent days. Missing livestock and stinking clawed- tracks.
Also, an armed group of has camped outside town, and nobody knows what they want.

The party continues its discussion of the Darkling Stair, road conditions, division of loot, and other matters before eating dinner and turning in for the evening.

Dawn comes early...

END OF CHAPTER
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.
