If John or any of the Kargatane read this, I’m truly sorry for the loss of your friend. I don’t think you guys know how important your work was to me as it was a great distraction that got me through some dark and difficult times (which is probably why I’m so protective of it).

My heartfelt condolences to all his friends and family.

Rest easy Mr Hackard. A godfather to this site and one who colored the tone of our beloved setting for many years. Sadly cancer is one horror that follows us away from the gaming table and those who fall to it are warriors of the highest order.

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said.
A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made.
Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die,
And when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there.
It doesn’t matter what you do, he said, so as long as you change something from the way it was
Before you touched it into something that’s like you after you take your hands away".
-Ray Bradbury

You have touched so many, and I am thankfull of what you have left behind.
Wherever Ravenloft is, you are there
Godspeed Mr Hackard.
Someone sent me a postcard picture of the earth. On the back they had written, "Wish you were here."

I was thinking today of all the good times I had thanks to Andrew Hackard, the SotK that led to this site (thus, partially for the good times I had thanks to this site), the netbooks, the Gazetteers and (perhaps) the funny things in Ask Azalin (I think he was involved still when that was up) - for those of you pre-2003.

And of course, my hours playing Muchkin.

Good times.
