What's the deal with 'Error 429'?

IDK why, but this specific bug seems too happen to me all the time, from every screen, specifically while browsing FoS websites. I had to refresh 5 times for every button I pressed just to get to writing this post. It says the problem is 'the user has sent too many requests' - as if one request is too much?
Look, I don't wanna make a scene. I kinda accepted this as part of using a more 'indie' platform. But is there any way we can fix this? Can I at least get an explanation as for why it happens so often specifically here?

yeah, it's a known issue. Board is old and creaky. hosting service not great about helping us. I have a few things to try out to fix it, but haven't had the time. sorry folks. No estimated time to fix. thank you for your patience, etc.

Timing issues... It's a DND message board, we all understand.
I'm glad at least someone is trying to do something about the problem.

Hey - did someone fix it?
Cause I've been browsing Mistipedia extensively today researching for my fanfic and didn't have a single bug. Same for entering the message board now - usually I go through three of those just to log in!

This might be my own personal experience but I think the forums are smoother to access (no error messages) in the morning or periods of lower traffic? Maybe that's only on weekday mornings versus weekends? Either way, it's been very smooth for the last hour or so. Neato!

Nope, I haven't touched anything lately. The errors still come and go. I'll try to see what I can do soon, but no promises

Just to note this has been the first time in about a month I have been able to comment here without this error stopping the page from loading at all.
I hope this is a sign it is fixed and just figured I should mention it here.
Either way thank you for contacting others and or working to fix this however you can.

I still experience it...
I really hope it gets fixed soon, but let's look at the bright side: Vibe-wise, it's the internet equivalent of an ancient, half-broken gothic castle, so at least we're on-theme!

Heh, I like that. At least we're on theme indeed! And I've noticed that every time I access the forums in the early hours of the morning or during work, there isn't much of an issue. I guess the monsters are asleep or hiding away from the sun...

Updating my own status on this as I have not experienced the error again so far since last time I reported it so hopefully it will stay that way Dark Powers willing and thank you for anyone who may have worked to fix it.
EDIT: Spoke too soon

and just trying to go to another page has caused it to reappear... Well still wish the best to anyone who is working on fixing this if it is possible!

Huh? I wonder what is different between you and me in how we connect to the site? Then again I am watching for if it shows up again "Knock on Wood" and it has vanished before temporarily only to return again.
I use firefox as my browser and generally I wonder if perhaps an update might be part of the error vanishing this time but I can't really confirm that for why it stopped and was more under the impression it was just a site wide issue affecting most of us.
