I got the feeling that the Esper was seen as more of a Masque of the Red Death archetype, y'know?Reginald de Curry wrote:The new deck has one serious problem: NO ESPER!

Perhaps, though the card predates MotRD.Brandi wrote:I got the feeling that the Esper was seen as more of a Masque of the Red Death archetype, y'know?Reginald de Curry wrote:The new deck has one serious problem: NO ESPER!
Pinky! Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
I think so, Brain, but didn't we give up ritual murder for Lent?

It was, though I can't say why they dropped it.Trevorfrost wrote:I thought that the Esper was more a Psionicist card so they took it out as Psionics wasn't directly a main part of the setting anymore.

True, but somehow the name "Esper" even sounds more MotRD-ish, as it seems derived from a more formal study of psi than the Core really had. I'd think in the Core such a person might be called a "Seer", "Visionary", or just insane/fey-touched/cursed....Reginald de Curry wrote: Perhaps, though the card predates MotRD.

Well, I certainly cursed a lot when I saw it had been dropped, so maybe you're on to something.Brandi wrote:True, but somehow the name "Esper" even sounds more MotRD-ish, as it seems derived from a more formal study of psi than the Core really had.
