Favourite Music

Post by Le Noir Faineant »

Hello,

In order to get to know your boardmates better, just name three of your favourite CDs!

So, my vote:

*Demons and Wizards*, from my college days... *Path of Glory* was something like my personal hymn for a time...

*Papa Roach - Love Hate Tragedy*, noone likes that disc but me... *Dark Clouds* being one of my fav tracks of all times...

*Peter Gabriel - OVO*, everyone has a soft side...

Besides that, Within Temptation, MM, Saxon the inevitable Linkin Park, Bad Religion and dozens more...

In no particular order -

* Don Giovanni (1947 recording in London) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

* Nightride and Sunrise (1990 recording in Finland) by Jean Sibelius

* Songs on the Deaths of Children (any recording really, they're all wonderfully conducted) by Gustav Mahler
"When she embraces
Your heart turns to stone
She comes at night when you are all alone
And when she whispers
Your blood shall run cold
You better hide before she finds you"

Right now im on a Blind Guardian and Henry Mancini kick. Mancini's Gypsy Violin is the BEST theme music for the vistani I have ever heard.
"Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish it's source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings."

3 favourite CDs? Hmm:

1) Mechanical Animals/ Marilyn Manson. Great album. Great for, well, you know...

2) American Idiot/ Green Day. Great Album, again. Cool to listen to whilst chilling out.

3) Scissor Sisters. Great album, yet again. Great for being so hyperactive you put Tigger to shame to.

Honourable mentions: Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack, Hellbilly Deluxe/Rob Zombie, Antichrist Superstar/Marilyn Manson, Fallen/Evanescene.
"Blood once flowed, a choice was made
Travel by night the smallest one bade" The Ballad of the Taverners.
The Galen Saga: 2000-2005

My favourites tend to change rapidly but as of right now:

Dusk and Her Embrace by Cradle of Filth

American Idiot by Green Day

Fallen by Evanescence

All very cool CDs, and they cover a lot of different moods for me.

Disintegration by the Cure is also a great one. Oh, and Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf.
"Death is the great equalizer"

Proof that the Grim Reaper is a communist.

Upon reflection, this is an horror board so I'll assume it's for moody music.

I only have one CD for horror mood and it's the soundtrack from Interview with a Vampire.

Pink Floyd's the Wall is brooding and can be fitting for horror.

I also use Medieval music to set the mood in more medieval games. Like when the PCs enter a town bustling with activity.

1) The soundtrack to Les Miserables (three CDs, but hey)

2) Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by Smashing Pumpkins (technically two CDs; if I had to choose, I'd pick the first one)

3) Waking Hour by Vienna Teng

Honorable mentions: Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme by Simon and Garfunkel, Fallen by Evanescence, the Broadway soundtrack to Phantom of the Opera, the soundtrack to Rob Roy . . . I could just keep going . . .

Such deliberate disguises
Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves"

Hoody hoo! Evanescence rules! Sadly, Amy Lee still refuses my marriage proposals.

After that,

Daredevil Soundtrack - best movie soundtrack ever
the Wallflowers - "Bringing down the horse" should be required listening to everyone.
Big Sugar - a Canadian rock/blues band
Rob Zombie's The Sinister Urge (excellent gaming music)
and
Ozzy Osbourne's Down to Earth
Evil Reigns!!!!

Hmmm... Hard to say what's my fav because moods change over time.

Maybe the following...

Pure Moods - mixed artists
Live after Death - Iron Maiden
Randy Roads tribute - Ozzy

But there are times I like Clapton better, Robert Johnson, Extreme, Queen, Alcatrazz, Rainbow.... I could go on and on.

Oooh... Good choice Wiccy. As it was, I had a hard enough time limiting myself to just three. However, I would have included this album specifically, if I had just been able to remember its title....

They may be good, but they are still a poor copy of Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Octavia, Midnattsol, etc.

Amy Lee refused my marriage proposal to when I met her on Hallowe'en 2003 (I saw them live that night, as Vallaki burned, I was off watching Evanescence :P), if anyone has the Anywhere But Home DVD, look inside the inlay, that dress is what she was wearing when I proposed :P That dress has also been stitched back together for the DVD inlay, it was in rags by the time the show ended, revealing much flesh *drools*

She's no Candia or Tarja though, lol.
