Favorite monster from Harry Potter books

Post by alhoon »

What is your favorite monster from the books so far?
NOTE: The thread may contain spoilers from the earlier books!

Mine are:
1.BY FAR: Dementors. Already used in 2 campaigns.
2. Voldemord (now that he is described as a Lich! ! !)
3. Inferi
4. Slitherin's monster

Nagini, serpent Horcrux of He-who-shall-not-be-named.
Also fond of the centaurs of the forest & the merfolk of the lake, all the critters Hagrid keeps (even the Blast-ended Skrewts), and the concept of Animagi.

and speaking of Horcruxes, I have a theory about what happened to Dumbledore...

None. They're bad, bad books, written by a plageristic hack.

I thought we weren't talking about Robert Jordan on this thread.

What's a plageristic hack? I disagree about the books being bad, but perhaps a plageristic hack is another monster I like!

I don't think so. Dumbledor is clearly dead, I doupt he has shredded his soul to pieces by killing innocents (to become half-alive with his soul in a phylactery => lich).
And in any case, Dumbledore appeared as a portrait in his office, sleeping peacefuly. But I believe HP will be able to contact him in the next book with the help of this portrait.

I think what he means is the potion DD drunk turned HIM into a Hour-what-ever-you-call-it.

personally i don't think so, i think Harry's scar is one by accident.

**** Possible Spoilers ****

We know that You-know-who wanted seven objects of real importance to the Hogwarts school to use as his horcruxes, what better way to prevent him from getting the sword of Goderic Gryffindor than for Dumbledore to have placed a portion of his own essence (in a variant spell not requiring the death of an innocent) in it.
I also have doubts that Dumbledore is dead anyway. There was a considerable amount of time that took place between when he got zapped & went over the tower and when his body was discovered, by the Transmutation professor (and there were death eater bodies around...)
Yes, I realize that his portrait did appear & the phoenix did lament & leave, but I still wonder...

Oh, and I do agree with others here on the identity of R.A.B. :)

* * * Not just possible but book ruining spoilers * * *

Nope. DD died immediately when the "Avada Kadavra" (Or what the Power Word Kill is) struck him, as HP was released. A group of students found him before the teachers.
Rowling in her interview said that she did that so HP's hate against Snape would be even more personal than with VM.

Now, I think Harry himself is pretty creepy sometimes...

Hehehe, let's look how that turns out in the end...

I wouldn't mind Harry become the prince of darkness in the end...

I am quite certain now that the most horrifying monster the series has spawned is its fans.

Seriously, that's not a queer theorists write up, is it?
