New Form for Quoth the Raven

Greetings from the Pit,

Here at the fraternity, we've been busy putting together the latest issue of Qouth the Raven, for publishing in October. Between the ink-drinking and the paper-airplane fights, we've found time to experiment with new layouts for the netbook.

After a campaign of extorsion and blackmail, we have obtained professional grade publishing software and begun creating a bold new layout for everyone's favourite magazine.

However, there are some snags. Our snazy new layout is baded on creating a real book, which means double sided pages, headers that switch from right to left page, blank pages to keep the title pages on the right hand side, the whole enchilade. Problem with that, though, is that none of that is necessary if someone was reading it off the web.
As well, the software used is quite efficient at making pdf documents - but not so keen on making word documents. If we switch over, we may not be able to offer the issue in word document format.

So, the big question is what is best?

Do you perfer your netbooks to be books? PDFS? Or word documents?

I hate downloading word documents and will always download the pdf version. PDFs are also supported by most OSs and most people have Adobe Reader installed (well, at least one version of it).

As for the books...well, I don't think I'd mind. What size paper will the books be based on? A5?

I actually get it in Word (then print the articles I wish to use). But I suppose switching to pdf wouldn't be a problem as long as I could print it for note writing, highlighting and referencing.

I'm easy either way.

Right, well, I'm fine with that.

PDF, A4

I tried to print it once but 100+ pages just were too much, eventually I had to burn my eyes in front of the PC to read it.

I read it in MS Word document format, but only because I'm too lazy to print it out. If you made it all book-style, that'd be pretty cool, and I might actually put in the effort to get it all bound and such.

I print it out, but select all the text and change to a smaller font. That brings it down to no more than about 30 pages.

I usually read them using the Acrobat Reader. If there's something I want at hand during my games, I print the relevant part.
As long as I can copy-paste things I wish to modifie and/or print, I'm fine with pdfs - and I prefer them to word-format.

I use gpdf to read the documents, which has meant I'm having difficulties in reading Van Richten's guide to the Mists (I don't trust the Linux version of Adobe and I'm loath to boot up Windows just for reading a document.)

So if you could avoid whatever madness White Wolf injected into that book, I would appreciate it. If I find an article I like, I usually print it out double sided.

I usually read it in Word, but I have no problem with it being in pdf only.

So long as cut and paste are available, pdf is nice. That is to say, as long as I can feed it into my text to speech enginge I am cool with it.

PDF A4 is fine with me. That's how I prefer my e-books anyway. Just make sure you leave in the copy and paste options, they are very useful to have. Van Richten's guide to the Mists seems to have disabled those features alas.
