What creatures are hurt by obsidian?

Last session, my party acquired some obsidian daggers. They want to make some monster lore checks to see if they know what creatures are especially vulnerable to obsidian. I know they exist, but I can't remember which ones.

Anyone know offhand?

Didn't one of the new lycanthrope variants in the MCIII have a wekness to obsidian weapons? Werejaguar or wereleopard perhaps?

It's pretty much open. Personally I think that Mesoamerican-type creatures should be hurt by it, such as yes werepanthers.

I don't tend to use obsidian as a weakness, however, as I give the creatures themselves the ability to use it in their own weapons.

It's the recommended vulnerability for weretigers in VRGtWB, as an optional replacement for silver. Werejaguars are vulnerable to ebony, not obsidian.

You could also rule that Obsidian being volcanic glass and sharp as hell could do additional hp's pf slashing damage, although perhaps its susceptible to being shattered?

Actually, one of the 2 versions of the werejaguar was affected by obsidian. And several Athasian monsters (Dark Sun) were affected by obsidian (but they wouldn't know much about those creatures).

Weretigers, per RCS (I'm pretty sure, my players are in Sri Raji now :P )

I had obsidian bypass the dementor's DR. You know the dementors from Harry Potter make nice Ravenloft monsters. With DR to obsidian.

There are rules for obsidian items in the Dark Sun books. Yes, they break more easily.

I was checking up on this in Pathfinder as well because they do have obsidian and it seems that they break easier..... but! Magic Obsidian weapons don't have the fragile quality. :D

While it's counter-intuitive that it'd be weretigers, not werejaguars, that obsidian would harm, it does make sense from a Rule-Of-Scary perspective. Lycanthropes' damage resistance is supposed to make them more frightening, after all, and a werejaguar's typical victims would be from Mesoamerican-style cultures in which obsidian would be a very common material for ordinary weapons. It wouldn't be very scary if a classic European werewolf had DR/steel and could therefore be taken down with normal swords, would it?
