Ravenloft cancelled? Time for action! [APRIL FOOLS 2011]

Dear members of the Fraternity,

As you probably know, the Ravenloft incarnation in 4th edition has been cancelled. To our surprise, it was announced early last year, but WotC said near the end of last January that it was cancelled(or at the latest postponed for a while).

Since then, we had numerous discussions about this cancellation at the FoS, and other Ravenloft fans, and we reached the consensus that this decision isn’t acceptable. We feel this is an outrage to Ravenloft fans: expectations were high and many people were infuriated when the news came out of its cancellation. They take us for fools, and we will let them know we are enraged.

They got their old Coke back, and the same way we will raise Ravenloft from the dead Wotc garbage bins !

So fans of Ravenloft, we call YOU! This is time for action, and with our number, we could force WotC to have Ravenloft back (perhaps by the end of 2011, or early 2012).

But we need EVERYBODY to join in!

If you are living in North America (that's about 500 registered FoS members) :

We will have a huge protestation outside WotC’s office next Friday, April the 8th.

Now we expect all RL fans in North America to converge to WotC's office for picketing next Friday. Come dressed in black, and bring your pitchfork, war songs, music instruments, grim picketing signs!

All six FoS will be there starting at 9 am. You will recognize us as we will be disguised as one of the famous darklords (and we won’t reveal now who will be who, as it will be a surprise. But I think Rotifer as Elena Faith-hold (yes, yes, with the Dragon too!), and Jester as the Godbrain (yes, yes, with the pool!) will impress you).

But it will be surely a fun gathering as many of us never met. We have planned hot dogs on the BBQ for noon.

And all day, we will tell WotC LOUDLY that we are not accepting this cancellation!

Now when we say we expect you to be there, we expect you to be there. If you really love Ravenloft, we know you will be there. We will have the names of all those North Americans registered at the FoS and we will enforce discipline and take presences.

Book your plane or bus right now! We have secured lower hotel rate at the nearby Marriott (SpringHill Suites Seattle South/Renton) and the code to get this rebate is “Ravenloft for 2011”.

If you are not living in North America:

Of course, we have to be reasonable, and those FoS site members that are from outside North America are not expected at the demonstration next Friday. But of course those who can make it are strongly encouraged!

Those from outside North America will however write an email of protestation. We are not telling you what to write as we’d like all letters to be different and personalized, but put one of the FoS’s email in CC, so we know who is doing what.

We think this email should be at least 3 000 words in length.

Send your email today at this guy, the CEO of WotC: AduCire@Wotc.com

All together, we will make Wotc rethink its plan!

Those in the know, no spoilers!

Joël, for the FoS

I really wish I could converge with all of you, as I would protest as loud as I could with you all. But divorce has cut my funds to nothing, so I will only be able to be there as a Geist.

I will be putting in an email, though, and I will be wishing you all the best! While I may not care for 4th edition, I certainly care about RAVENLOFT!

Well, time to dust off my Alfred Timothy costume...which is coincidentally my Furry costume...

I can't wait for the pictures. You are going to take pictures right?

I think this protest march coincides with my planned march to demand the return of Arrested Development.

I can join you all but I'll be dressed as a stage magician doing sleight of hand to the tune of "Final Countdown".

That would still work, though. You could be a Dementlieuse magician.

Great to see you there, everyone! But please, Jim, do leave the cats at home: Drusilla's coming as Jacqueline Renier, and I only agreed to lend her my pet rats for the event if she promises they won't get eaten. ;-)

Errr, I hate to be a downer but this might end up with some people getting arrested.

And no offense, but this is kind of silly. Protesting because a game ling got cancelled? I could understand if it was for something else, but going to the companies office and protesting is just taking things a bit too far.

You might end up giving Ravenloft fans a bad name.

Sorry, but these are my thoughts on the matter. I think it would be cool if Ravenloft got a 4E version even though I do not play 4E, I just think your method of dissent is going overboard for a game line.

With that out of the way, if you are going to do it, then please be respectful and polite at least. It helps a lot when dealing with other people. :)

And I shall be the Lady of the Lake...

Patrick
Make of that what you will!

Joël: You, Sir, are the BEST!

No problem, rest assured there will be no unrest nor violent conduct. I think I can safely say that, knowing the people in here ;-)

Well that is good at least.

I really do hope that you all can convince them to do Ravenloft 4E. I would probably just have chosen a different method to convince them.

Although I am sure they had their reasons for not releasing it, maybe they can be convinced to give it some more work. :)
