Alain Alone-OOC

Post by ewancummins »

If your dude wants to intercept the courier, he'll need to travel fast. What's the plan?
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

The fastest way is to take a keelboat to the fork of the river, then ride overland through Falkovnia and hope that you managed to get ahead of the courier. He's got a couple of days lead!

Because he has those two magic items, Alain doesn’t need to buy his own rations or water, so—

(Spare) riding horse, with a second set of saddle bags
Enough feed and water for both horses for three days (some in barrels to be used on the boat, some stuffed in your saddlebags)
Keelboat ride for a couple of days, you and the horses
Total price 90 gp – with your successful bargaining
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Note about timeframe- Alain is not necessarily on the same timeframe as the other PCs- this is a seperate mini-game.

The old guy seems friendly, as does the young couple. No sign anybody is lying or has a hiiden agenda- but these folks are strangers, so it's hard to be sure.

Figured so.

If you have more specific questions (a follow up on Gather info) , ask away. As it is, it looks like you have a young married couple relocating to an inherited farmstead, and a riverboat gambler/drifter type guy.

One the main things he is looking for is who would need to stay in the background as it were if the boat was attacked for whatever reason . He is looking for those who can handle themselves in a fight and won't panic when trouble comes calling . Also as I posted he is trying to just be another passenger on the boat and not be memorable unless circumstances dictate he must reveal his abilities to protect his transport down the river . Also in that vain to not pisses off inadvertently so as to also stay under the radar .

Craps: The shooter wins on a first roll (2d6) of 7 or 11, or loses on 2, 3, or
12. Otherwise the shooter rolls until the number first rolled is rolled a
second time - a win - or a 7 is rolled - a loss. Shooters bet before rolling,
as others may. Side bets may be made thereafter as applicable, if
there are takers. (The fancy line play of modern casinos is ignored.) Dice
pass clockwise to next player when the shooter loses.

Noted. Most of the crew look like they could handle a back alley brawl, but not necessarily a serious tangle with river pirates or monsters.

The old gambler guy doesn't look tough or well armed- but he's hard to read.

The captain/boatmaster carries himself like a guy who has seen some action.

The young woman looks pretty useless in a fight- but it's hard to say for sure. Her husband is a strapping lad, but poorly armed ( just a dagger).

At least the way he's playing, yeah, you've got to match his bet.

Now I will roll for him...
