Upon a second look, I'd almost say those are fleshy tumors. There have been cases reported where tumors had all manner of strange things growing inside and out: teeth, eyes, digits with nails, hair, I could go on. Proponents of the Adult Stem Cell Theory point to such as evidence that stem cells are still present in full-grown adults and tumors are those cells given the wrong growth commands by damaged control genes. It could explain some of the more bizarre things found.
