Well?! Where's the Apocalypse?!?!

Post by High Priest Mikhal »

Here it is Dec. 22, 2012, and the world hasn't come to an end. Just like it didn't end during Y2K, during Hale Bopp, during Haley's Comet in 1910 and 1985, and during countless other points in history.

What's that, doomsayers?

::crickets chirping:: Wait until 2029!

Sorry, the roar of logic and reason drowned you out.

Well heck-the Harbinger of the latest Apocalypse got eaten by the Mists again...has anybody done a Domain and Darklord head count post Dec 21 2012? If nothing seems out of place i'll have my Minions look out for possible new Sinkholes of Not-quite-a-darklord wickedness... :twisted:

On a more serious note-most translations of the Mayan Calendar only predict the end of one world or age for another, and destruction of Humanity only if the Gods were displeased enough.A new age may or may not have occurred right under our noses!

Also,Jean-Michel De Nostrodame (Nostrodamus) mentions only a 'great upheaval' in 2012 (there have been many of those in both a political and economic sense as well as many natural disasters and an increase in violence overall worldwide). Despite this, Nostrodamus' visions continue until at least 2035, (with relative stability) after which 'my visions end, I see no further'. This ALSO does not necessarily predict the end of the world-just the limits of his visions from the future.

And to the Christians who pore over Revelation looking for a Timeline to the End Times? Please remember -'Be ye therefore ready also:for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not' (Luke 12:35-40)and also to 'Take heed that ye not be decieved..'(Luke 21:8).

My personal opinion on the Apocalypse? Men since time immemorial have predicted the End of the World-and each and every one of them have been RIGHT. In time they die, their worlds have ended for them and they travel beyond where the living may follow them. Revelation may be read as a personal journey as well as a journey of nations...

As a fan of (pre-4e) Shadowrun I'm well aware of the Long Count and what precisely the end of an incarnation of the world means (I'm not disappointed the world didn't end, nor did I expect magic to return to the world but that would have been cool). As for upheavals, they occur at one place or another every second of the day. Sadly, the world will not change: there will still be war, hate, prejudice, tyranny, famine, weapons of mass destruction, and overall misery as long as humans exist. On that nihilistic note, good day.

As a Shadowrun fan, I was disappointed in the lack of Elven and Dwarven babies being born this weekend. But I'll hold out for 2021 and UGE!

The rumors of the apocalypse were absolutely true, but you'll be pleased to know that they found the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind and reversed the Grand Conjunction just in time. :)

It is 9% beer after all. Joel should get a laugh out of this one. We can buy this pretty much anywhere here in Montreal.

"That's... that's..."

:wipes tear from eye:

"That's beautiful, Tarlyn..." whispered HMB in an awed hush.
