Despite his humble origins, his purity, tenacity, and skill overshadowed another would-be holy warrior, [[Count Yvern the Scourge\|Count Yvern]]. Count Yvern became jealous of all the glory Daniel received and eventually turned to the dark side in disgust. After a protracted war with each other, Count Yvern and Daniel met personally on the battlefield.
