			the former [[ruler]] of the [[hamlet]] of [[Tranquility]]. Highly [[ambitious]], he loathed his [[community]] and people for being beneath the significance and power for what he yearned for. After Tranquility was ravaged by a [[hydra]], a [[hero]] known only as [[the Horseman]] arrived in town and slew the beast, winning the hearts of the commoners.

			After his daughter became totally infatuated with the newcomer, Eli van Hassen devised a plan to be rid of him. Eli demanded his daughter, [[Talitha van Hassen]] to bear [[false witness]] against the Horseman for [[rape]] and then ordered the [[guard]] to capture him. Brought before a riled up mob, the Horseman insisted on his innocence. However, van Hassen ordered his [[execution]].

			A week later, [[the Mists]] drifted over Tranquility and took away the van Hassens and their servants. The [[Execution of the Horseman]] was the [[seminal event]] that caused the formation of [[the Endless Road]], a [[Shadowfell domain]].
