He made a deal with [[the Nightmare Man]] to share this way out if the Nightmare Man would not interfere. The Nightmare Man rewarded him with a [[dream key]]. However, Guiver betrayed the Nightmare Man by performing the ritual in secret, but the Nightmare Man betrayed him in return by taking back the needed dream key and replacing it with a [[cursed dream key]]. The ritual went awry, killing Guiver and all the other ritual participants.
