Raggedy Jack, or Jack MacGreggor as he went by in life, was a [[Tepestani]] [[farmer]] of great skill rivaled only by [[Fincher Blackstock]]. Blackstock eventually beat his rival to a bloody pulp and left MacGreggor to die tied to his [[scarecrow]]. However, MacGreggor rose again as a [[dread scarecrow]],determined to bring ruin to his [[murderer]]. Raggedy Jack first caused Blackstock economic ruin by scaring profuse amounts of [[rat]]s and mice onto Blackstock's farm. When Blackstock returned to the site of Jack's [[murder]] to apologize, Raggedy Jack accepted it before breaking Blacstock's neck. Now it is said that Jack remains to make sure that the farmers nearby treat each other well.<ref>Based upon descriptive text from [[John W.
