I like the idea of a Materium world cobbled together from other worlds, but only accessible from the Shadowfell. The mists could easily be tendrils of shadow instead of ether. Now all we need is for WotC to get off their duff and make it!

From reading the thread, I see the Hags as Iconic of Horror, but the backstory does not have the detail that a proper darklord needs. Where is the act of Perdition? That horrific act in the past that has condemned them to their fate? That needs to be looked into.

To build on Irving's coments, I say that as the core starts to take shape, the details about individual domains could be worked out. It might be a simple matter for major domains, like Barovia, more complicated for other some lesser known domains.

From what I see of the Shadowfell, it sounds like they've created a plane that would make a nice home for Ravenloft. The Domains of Dread sound like the "pocket domains" or Islands of Terror, which were isolated from the core. It does not close the door to Ravenloft making it's triumphant return ...
