Re: RL in Minecraft

I have several friends who have joined the minecraft hive mind LOL. I think this could be an awesome project, keep me posted on it.

Re: Gaming Morality Question

Also consider, while child murder is bad, there is a long history of it in the genre. Dating back to witches in Gingerbread houses. True enough, in fact many of the fairy tales involved bad things happening to children which was kind of the point. I like the idea of keeping it small and maybe a lit...

Re: Gaming Morality Question

You should definitely ask your players "are there any boundaries you do not want stories to cross?" Then you'll know. And be a better informed DM to craft better stories for your group. That is an excellent idea! I can't believe I have never actually taken the time to do that ever in a ga...

Gaming Morality Question

So I have been working on a bad guy recently who happens to be a child killer. As I was thinking about it I realized I may be stepping over a line. While I believe there is nothing more rotten and evil than someone who victimizes children, is using such a villain in a game acceptable? If this were a...

Re: Movies that have that Ravenloft feel

I went and saw Sucker Punch the other day. It was fair to middling. A good array of ideas for use in any sort of "insane asylum" setting, though, so that's good. You probably won't use so many samurai sword-wielding schoolgirls with AK47s in your campaign though. I may not use them in a R...

Re: Running a Game Online?

While not as live as things such as AIM or Skype I have found both play by email games and play by post games to be quite nice specially for games that tend to lend themselves more to story than numbers (such as Ravenloft). The one problem with both these modes of playing is that they can often get ...

Re: Seeking some brainstorming ideas

I really like the idea of giving them a short visit. Maybe I can even work in something during their first visit that will work as a clue that they need to go back to retrieve the Eye of N'thule (I never actually thought about the WoW god, but it does seem similar :) ). I am also thinking that the f...

Point well made and something I will work on adjusting in the future :D

Re: Seeking some brainstorming ideas

I know for sure that none of them will be expecting it as none of my current players have really encountered Ravenloft. I was planning on having the Eye of N'thule actually located in the land of dread, but I am not sure I want to wait that long to launch a fun bit of Ravenloft.

Re: Souragne: French, Southern or Yat accent?

I actually tend to view Souragne as more Haitian than anything else. Unfortunately I have never really used the domain in my game so have yet to study the accent. I do like the idea of using a Cajun accent as it would fit nicely in a pinch.

Seeking some brainstorming ideas

Okay, so I know I haven't been around these boards for a while and I apologize deeply. As many of you know real life has a habit of coming in and kicking your butt on occasion. Mine was kicked so hardcore that I actually dropped out of RPG's for quite a while. Well finally I am back in the DM's sadd...

Lighthouses are great plot devices. There is something about being isolated on a small island while a dark storm rages that really brings out the gothic atmosphere.

I came to Ravenloft through playing the original I6 adventure. I loved the adventure and one day I was at Waldenbooks shopping for my birthday present (Grandparents gave me money instead of presents in order to make sure I got what I wanted), and I saw the black boxed set. I grabbed it and the very ...
