Re: Steampunk in Ravenloft

This might be totally off from what you're thinking, but you could homebrew an Island of Terror in which steam-powered devices exist in a medieval setting. I'm thinking of a mood/style similar to that which existed in the game Thief: The Dark Project. You could use some kind of mechanized golem for ...

Re: A Horseman's Intro - Looking for Advice and Ideas

I anticipate that I will have a similar problem in my games since most of my players are 4e players, and 4e makes players feel like their PC's are invincible super heroes. That being said, I am curious how things turn out for you and if you are able to find a way to persuade them to run. Furthermore...

Re: spooky mp3!

For creepy music I don't think you can find anything creepier than avant-garde twelve tone classical music. Put on the opera Lulu by Alban Berg or Wozzek by Webern. Le Merle Noir by Messiaen is very eerie as well.

Re: Published Adventure for Mistfinder

I found and downloaded the Night of the Walking Dead adventure from the WotC site, but all of the maps that would have come with it seem to be gone. Does anyone know of a link that would have the map of Marais d’Tarascon? I checked the FoS Souragne Gazetteer, but there is only a map of the port to t...

That's a good idea too. I will definitely add that. On a slightly different topic, which character sheets would you use for such a campaign, the Ravenloft or Pathfinder sheets?

Re: Mistfinder vs. 3.5 for a new GM

IME, most players care more about the style of game than they do the rules. I don't see anything wrong with billing it like so: RAVENLOFT GAME, PLAYERS WANTED DM-Higginz players wanted: 5-7 setting: Ravenloft, a gothic horror/heroic fantasy millieu system: Pathfinder ( compatible with/very similiar...

Re: Mistfinder vs. 3.5 for a new GM

I've played a little PF. It seems about as close to 3.5 as 3.5 is to 3.0. It's 3.75! ;) I doubt the learning curve will be steep for most players. That's a good point too Ewan. Maybe I will just bill it as Ravenloft, and then in the details mention that we will use Pathfinder rules. So, that people...

Re: Mistfinder vs. 3.5 for a new GM

I completely agree with you about Paizo on this one Brass. They have put out a very solid product, and I would rather support a small company that is interested in promoting quality RP'ing and the integrity of the original creation as designed by the creator than some greedy corporate profiteer that...

Mistfinder vs. 3.5 for a new GM

Hello, As I've posted in another thread here on the forums, I want to start GM'ing Ravenloft games in my local gaming area here in Los Angeles. Originally, I was going to use Mistfinder rules, but now I am wondering if it is worth it to update previous Ravenloft products. What I am asking is if it w...

Re: Published Adventure for Mistfinder

Thank you Gonzoron for you input. A good introductory 2e adventure that could be adapted is what precisely what I was looking for. I will definitely check out Dark Tales & Disturbing Legends and Night of the Walking Dead . Being a new DM to the setting, I just want something that will give me id...

Published Adventure for Mistfinder

Hello, I'm new to these forums and to the Ravenloft setting, but I'm really interested in running a Ravenloft campaign. So far, I've ordered the RLPHB 3.5, the RLDMG 3.5, Denizens of Dread 3.5, and Secrets of the Dread Realm. However, I want to know if there are any published adventurers that could ...
