Re: Magnum Opus - A Layers of Fear inspired Domain.

It would be interesting as a one-off encounter, as it is an interesting curse. The problem is, if the players have ever played layers of fear, they're gonna know whats going on almost immediately. As for the painter himself, while theirs the mutilation of his wife's body (and the implied murder of h...

Re: Domain of the Month: Barovia.

The Moscovici Home for the Disturbed is one of the finest asylums in all of Barovia. Founded in Immol in 691 by the local Thaani, with help from local Hala witches, it is seen as a model for what Barovian medicine should be: simple and effective. The founders of the asylum claim that they founded th...

Re: Domain of the Month: Barovia.

I've always been more partial to a sizable Barovia, to illustrate that Strahd's ability to landgrab and get things done even with the Dark Powers constraints, and it gives one more to play around with. As well, it makes Strahds ability to just appear all the more creepy. Cause with a small domain, ...

Re: Domain of the Month: Barovia.

I have decided to try remapping the core because it's been at least a decade since I've done a good old fantasy-style map, so why not? For starters, everything is quite a bit bigger. Mordent is one of the smaller domains: it fits in a 50x50 mile (80x80 km) box, and is attached to Dementlieu which i...

Re: Domain of the Month: Barovia.

My only contribute to Barovia so far has been the the flasshing out of Sergey's Ghost. Hereis the second: Barovia Town and Barovia Village; I always had a pet peeve in the idea that a nation capital could be seated on a village; so I propose this solution: Barovia Town is a fair sized town seating ...

Domain of the Month: Barovia.

Happy New Year Everybody! :D Will this new year bring hope to the land of mists, or simply new horrors? Lets find out. While I am new hear on Cafe Nuit, I figured why not try and restart that old tradition the old blood of the Fraternity did many years ago with a domain of the month, to really bring...

Re: Brainstorm: Demihuman Dominant Domains

Hmm...! Your Dwarf domain and mine could form an interesting Cluster, kind of like Zherisia. One darklord yearns for a Dwarven kingdom but is trapped in a labyrinth of material wealth with insufficient food; the other lives in a primal wilderness and yearns for material wealth and independence from...

Re: Brainstorm: Demihuman Dominant Domains

Dwarf Domain as an underdark. Hilgvar Steelheart was always driven by pride and stubbornness, even among his people. In his clan, your name and deeds were everything, and only the mightiest deeds worthy of generations of songs could make one head of the clan. Hilgvar always dreamed of such a positio...

Shadow Domains

One problem I've always had with the core is the Necropolis and the Shadowrift, these giant no-go zones. Cause while there are plenty of things about Ravenloft that don't make sense, having people disbelieve magic or gods when a city of zombies exists and a giant hole of darkness just shows up. I li...

Re: Legacy of the Blood: Shinpi and Ankhtepot Dynasty

It's all good stuff, but I would also like to see variations on the bloodlines that use reincarnation rather than/along with blood descent. I loved the framing fiction in the RLCS that had the reincarnation scenario for the guy who went exploring tombs. With Anktepot's bloodline, I would say perhap...

Re: QtR 26

I got a few ideas I'm cooking up (though I don't know 3e so I'll have to read up before I write up).
I got an adventure with taxidermied animals coming to life and turning a nobles manner into a hunting ground, giant Falkovnian birds that eat people, and some other things.

Re: Falk-fury rages on!

I read this coming off a 13 hour shift in -34*C weather and my muddled brain only really registered "bird of prey", "Talons after death", and "primal serum". I was interested so I put on a pot of coffee and the thought dawned on me while trying to download episode 9 of...

Re: Falk-fury rages on!

Hey, I'm tossing around some Falkovnian Superscience/Magic programs and want you opinion on them. First and my favorite is Project Vedrfolnir: While the many Bloodhawks and Raptors of Falkovnia are fierce and lethal, none are of large enough size to be truely useful beyond messanger birds and pets. ...

Re: Adam's Brain

Having read Mordenheim some time ago, something really unpleasant just clicked for me. Mordenheim makes much of the brain he selected for Adam's construction ... and Henrik Von Brandthofen, father of his dearly beloved wife Elise, had died not that long before. Mordenheim appreciated Henrik as one ...

Re: Children of the Night: Elementals

Statistically earth elementals and grave elementals really aren't that different. you could just tack on the grave elemental special ability to the earth monolith and call it a grave monolith. Of course, that would really push up the level of the adventure unless you wanted to give them some tricky...
