Café de Nuit

As I said, Sunderheart has a high (but, given this is mainstream D&D) acceptable level of fantasy elements, and it fits its Barkerian mold well, and the curse, like has been said, is quite visible, but also in theme for the mileu of Barker's body-horror works.

Graefmotte... well its not bad , but ...

The crulety isn't what got her Cursed.. she had sworn to be together eternally with her lover, then he grew depressed and bored and she got tired of him and in a gruesome trap, doped up a beautiful girl to have him lured into having his way with her, killing her, and eating her -- thus poisoning ...

..if snatched at the proper time, or done via a Shinpi.. Rotti Largo and Nathan Walalce both could be arguable as Darklords...

[Of REPO! The Genetic Opera]

Personally, for me, after the initial improvements and impressions (I can be a dwarven wizard! Whee! I can be a wizard with a sword! WHee! Feats are COOL, now all fighters who swing a sword don't swing it the same way!) wore off....

If I want detailed rules, I'll break out Deadlands. Combat there ...

Its.. complciated, but is in essence a twisted mural of a nightmarish sexual atrocity fantasyland, that has powers, when not tapped too heavily, to grant youth eternally... it's.. well, been a while, and as I said, complicated.

..al lthis talk of Clive Barker, and no mention of Coldheart Canyon ? It's two darklords for one!

Katya is easy enough.. she has ultimate power over the dead of Hollywood who gave into her debauched revels in life, but is left tied to the Devil's Country mural for her eternal life and youth, thus ...

What I am stunned tremndously by here is that no one has thought to suggest Savage Worlds!

Combat that can be remarkably deadly and leave permenant injuries? CHECK!

Built-in horror and fear rules? CHECK!

System designed to make characters balanced and useful at any level of power? CHECK!

System ...

Speaking as a fan of the original Changeling....

...Lost is dark, horrific, and just freaking awesome. One of the best WoD games ever, old or new.

Thus the Phalanx FIghting expert, and the Driving Attack/Shock Trooper type feats. That's the image I was going for: He's capable of locking shields with his honor guard of sorts, but when the time comes he can rush forwward, slam you to the ground with an impaling thrusts.

That's my intent anyway.

Actually, he's still the same history-wise, same stats, same gear.

But Gaz. 2 was before 3.5.

So, with this in mind, on an idle whim, I've let our favorite phallic symbolism-obessed evil warlord invade 3.5, and though he lost (as always, he's made off with some new material, and gained a couple ...

Personally, I was outraged at the notion of Van Richten as some badass "undead slayer".. I have a beloved REALMS character, a Kelemvorite Paladin/Cleric/SacredPurifier.... a Realms character. Making Rudolph a cleric shows an utter disrespect for Ravenloft canon -- though from what I've got to see of ...

I've never had any trouble with Drakov, honestly -- though I'm loving some of the suggestions we've been seeing.

As it stands, I've been (sparsely  ) introducing a bud to Ravenloft, explaining a few core bits of note, and helping him come to understand a Native's mindset. The usual caveats ...

Though I missed the deadline, I'd have to vote for Mordent, and not just post-Gaz. My first Ravenloft module was Howls in the Night , and the domain has remained near and dear to my heart ever since.

THat and I love a good ghost yarn.

Rounding out the top five:

2) Souragne
3) Forlorn
4) Kartakass ...

Thaco is a BADASS...

Just picked this up on DVD. Sad and whimsically horrific, and a damned fine story to loot for Ravenloft usage.

Five of five blood drops, enthusiastically so.
