There seems to be some confusion as to the locations of various PCs.

Dofur and Karim are waiting outside the building (Commander's House), near the front doorway.

The rest of your are inside the building, seperate from Dofur and Karim.
The commander's office is situated so that John Strange could not possibly have witnessed the recent scene with Dorfur, Karim, and those two Falkovnians.

Tarlyn, you posted your PC entering the ante-room/foyer of the building:
John Stranger hangs back, last one to enter the room. He leans on the door frame, taking in the room. He would let Benn and Dorgio do the talking. Maybe he would remember something by observing these Falkovnian men.
I therefore assumed that you followed Guppio deeper into the interior of the building, to the commander's office. I can edit that, though. It's too easy.
Did your PC go to the office with Ben, Dorgio, and Alain? Or did he hang out in the foyer- close enough to overhear the conversation with Karim and that Falkvonian fellow with the papers? He cannot be in both places at once. Decide now, please, so I can edit if I must. 8)

In any case, you can catch up with the others now- even bringing along Karim and his dwarven slave if you like.

Sometimes the villainous NPC shoots the heroic PC in the back with a sweet natural twenty...and then I roll snake eyes for the damage.

Does Karim stay with Dofur or does he join us?

When both men left Karim says to Dofur:

"I'm sorry for that my friend. Better stay here as Guppio said and wait the others to come back."
Based on this, I assume that Karim remains with Dofur. Now Wat has joined the two of them. They are all outside.

John Strange, Benn, and Dorgio are all in the room with the two corpses. LT Guppio has joined them.

Alain is.....someplace.

Yeah, taking 20 as well obviously.

Missing uniforms? That can't be good...
"Of course," Benn mutters, "It would be a damned shame if we ever knew what the hell was actually going on."

Yeah I agree. That's why John mentioned it in that post. Hey guys. Until my pc can get some gold, he will in all actuality need some to buy some necessities like boots, a weapon[whatever he feels most comfortable] and of course paper and pen/pencils. Some rations would be nice too........

DM clearing up confusion:

There is no window, open or otherwise, in the room with the bodies. This room- der bafragungraum- is in the basement/cellar of the building.

The open window is in the room above the room with the bodies.

I'll try to scan a map...

Does this help?

As you can see, the 'berfragungraum' is in the cellar, below the level of Captain Kruger's living quarters. The murdered captain's own door is just a short walk down the hall to the door at the top of the stairs leading down to 'der Berfragungraum.'

Cool.

I finally got my scanner working.

I'll be posting little maps and visual aids more often.

PS- Maybe we should edit part of that previous post? I mean, John Strange is seperated from Benn, Dorgio, and Alain, now. He's on the first floor with the sergeant -not in the cellar interrogation room with the others or on his way to the clockmaker's shop.
