The Devil's Dreams___Chapter Two
Re: The Devil's Dreams___Chapter Two
With his coughing under control, at least for now, Thom quickly moves into action. Grabbing Everline he makes his way back over to the pit, taking a hold of the hatch in his free hand, Thom jumps down into the pit with Everline closing the Hatch behind.
Jump Check 1d20=19
Once down there he will put the fire out on his shirt and then start searching for another exit..

History prefers legends to men. It prefers nobility to brutality, soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle and forgets the blood. What ever history remembers of me if it remembers me at all, it shall only be the fraction of the truth.

meanwhile, in the great hall-
You all hear a shout from somewhere in the back of the manor house.
''FIRE! THE WOOL-SHED IS BURNING! HELP! ''

Rushing around the house, Alain scans for the fire- and spots a curling plume of dirty-gray smoke. Rounding the corner of the manor home, he sees a wooden shed set a little distance from the building. The door is chained and possibly locked the smoke pours out the narrow windows. The exterior smolders in spots, but is not yet engulfed in flames. The fire may be largely contained within- for now.

On seeing that the fire is coming from the inside Alain and that it seems to be locked from the outside he casts a spell(OrA) to get rid the lock, so letting him open the door easily .

Thom starts taking short shallow breaths of air through his nose, readying his dagger he stands over Everlines body in a protective stance.

Re: The Devil's Dreams___Chapter Two
Alain drops a conjured orb of acid onto the chain. The metal sizzles and cracks. The links fall away. The door swings open. Alain leaps aside just in time to avoid the blast of fiery, smokey air the blows from the hot interior of the shed. When the roiling smoke has cleared a little, he can see that the interior if partly filled with burning mounds of wool. He notices something odd- a soot-stained,scorched crossbow on the floor near the door.

Hearing Alain's voice Thom smiles to himself and shouts, only once, "Down here! In the pit! We are wounded and need assistance. Quickly now! The air grows foul down here!

Braving the smoke and flames, Alain enters the shed. Despite the stinging smoke in his eyes, he quickly finds the trap door and lifts it. The space below is a stone-walled pit, maybe eight or nine feet deep. Thom lies at the bottom of the pit, hacking and coughing. Beside him rests the soot-stained, half naked form of the young maid, Everline.
Alain hears shouting voices and thudding footfalls right behind him- others from the house have come. Buckets of water are hurled into the shed. Someone helps Alain with the rope, and Thom is pulled from the pit. Another man helps to lift out the limp body of the girl.
