I haven't posted in years, but I'm glad to see this community is still undead and well!
I seem to recall a project years ago where forum members were revising the methods some dark lords used to seal their domains, as well as their curses, to make them more original, unique and (in the case of dark lord curses) tragic.
For example, in the original black box, several domains all shared "the mists lead adventurers back into the domain" if the adventurers try to leave against the dark lord's will... which was deeply unimaginative and unsatisfying. And Duke Gundar was just some run of the mill vampire living next door to Strahd, with no deeper backstory or meaningful curse.
Does this ring a bell at all? If yes, can someone point me to the netbook, post, or other source where this information might have been compiled?
Thanks in advance for your time and assistance!

If you are interested in homebrew I have made a rewriting of Gundarak here:

I don't think there is a compilation of border closings. This might have been the thread. http://www.fraternityofshadows.com/foru ... r&start=30
One of these days, I'd like to add simple table pages to the Wiki like List of Darklords (with their curses, and basic demography), List of Domains and their Darklords, List of Border Closures by domain
The digging through categories thing the wiki has going now is thorough but less helpful than a dedicated page on the topic, especially when trying to sort box-canon from book-canon from forum-canon from early version/late version canon.

Thanks, Mistmaster, I'll give it a look. I'm not actually in a hurry to do anything with Gundarak, but I've been thinking of doing some prep work on a modified Curse of Strahd set around the time of the Realm of Terror boxed set, so Gundarak might come into play after the adventure's end... but we're talking months if not years into the future (in real time), as my RPG group hasn't met since last March.Mistmaster wrote:If you are interested in homebrew I have made a rewriting of Gundarak here:

Thanks for digging that thread up, Mischief. For some reason I don't think that was it, but I may be misremembering... or mixing that post up with some ideas I've since read elsewhere. The date stamps on the posts in that thread certainly would have been in the right ball park.Mischief wrote:I don't think there is a compilation of border closings. I like your idea of simple summary table pages.
Cheers!
