Lady Adelines Hedge Maze

Post by Mephisto of the FoS »

So I just strarted printing a Hedge Maze model for Lady Adelines Maze and looking at the maze's map I don't find it so "mazy". Also the only thing that blocks someone from using a flying familiar, fly spell or something similar to map the maze is a flock of 5d6 wild eagels, while a clairvoyance spell works without any problem.

Eagle, wild (5d6): AC 6; MV ]; FL 30 (C); hp 9;
THACO 19; #AT3; Dmg Id2/ld2/l; S2 Small
(4-5’); int Animal (1); ML Average (9); AL
XP 175 each

I had the idea that the thorn bush maze could be made by thorny intersecating maze-like garden tunnels instead. This way the maze becomes dark as almost no light passes through, more scary, as the PCs are surrounded by throrny plants and impossible to enter or exit by flying. Finally the thick thorny plants make it impossible to map the maze from above by the ways mentioned before.

Also there is no need for open spaces within the maze like the one in area 8 and the space below that, making the whole thing claustrophobic is better and making the whole maze being of 5ft corridors is better for her and her minions to prey on the PCs.

Any other suggestions?

PS
I always imagined the labyrinth in The Phantom Lover's domain to be a hedge maze with Liederick's Tower on the middle.

Put in some of the nastier prehensile plants, like blood roses or strangling vines, hidden in the hedge walls.

You could make the hedges 10-15 feet high. When something gets higher than 10ft, the hedge magically grows a canopy of thorns and brambles, hurting anyone who flies over.

How far would their reach be? Someone flying can be really higher from the ground and clairvoyance still works.
