After Feast of Goblyns

Post by kottakinge »

Hello there.
I just finished FOG with my party (1 thief,1druid,1 half vistani bard, 1 paladin of Ezra and 1 cleric of Ezra), they did well and became the new champions of Harkon Lukas by destroying the evil the monster Radaga bring in KArtakass (and they fight Dominiani to recover the crown).
So now they have plenty of things to do:
-The cleric ask Lukas if she can use the old church in homlock to build an Ezra church.
Harkon accepted but ask them a mission:to find and destroy this cult in the wood, which sacrifice his woodsmen and bring Lycanthropy in his land.
Harkon was talking about the howling clan as u guess it.
They accepted and go to the woods where the cult was see last time (with very feeww magic and silver weapons).
They find a blood recovered altar in the woods and hide near it.
During the night some hooded shadows come into this place with 3 tied humans.
The paladin move silently from his hide to have a better point of view but made too much noise and the cultists saw him.
They fight but soon mother Fury and her clerical power overpower them (and with her 12 werewolves follower that help!), so they dies, or so they think so.
I plan to have Mother Fury cursed them with her lycanthropic bite so when they will awake, the cult will have disapear so will their magical weapons, and now she will use Luka's champions against him.

What do u think about that?
I'm looking for Mother Fury stats cause i wasn't manage to find them.
I will be very happy to share informations about DM who played FOG and what they plays after this adventure (did u still playing in kartakass).
Thanks for ur answers.

Interesting. The character's are first level and have to take on Mother Fury and her clan... Now that's a challenge.

The player's are probably going to think that Lukas was trying to get rid of them, and that might be a good way to play it if it comes up. If they're infected with lycanthropy, he's definitely going to want to get rid of them.

Mother Fury first appeared in the second edition Creatures of the Night: Werebeasts I believe you might be able to buy it as a download from RPGNow, but I'm not sure. Being copyrighted information, we can't just give you her stats.

As you know about her, I'm assuming that you have the first Gazetter. It mentions that she has cleric levels, something that she didn't have in second edition, so you can just use that as a guide and stat her out yourself. Being a cult leader and a survivalist, she'll probably have a high charisma and wisdom.

What I do remember was that the trigger for the change was her howl. As such, the player's may game for several more levels and not realize that they were actually infected until waking up covered in blood after hearing a wolf howling in the distance. If they were walking a sweetheart home at the time, even better.

Lukas is going to expect some kind of proof that the cult is now gone for good, so maybe the cultists sacrifice a someone who resembles Mother Fury so that the PC's have a head to bring back. For a crafty Darklord not to assume that his pawns are being reflected back at him, you're going to have to use a light touch, and give the PC's a really good reason to believe that the cult is gone for good.
The Remnants have one saying to represent loss, disappearance, exile, and death. It is Shiao Marests, "Taken by The Shadows".

Sorry kottakinge, read a little to fast and missed that part.

In 3.5, she's a true mountain loup-garou, with a good number of cleric levels. If you check in Gazetter 1, you'll see the most recent stuff on her. COTN:W doesn't mention any clerical powers, but does give a good insight into how she runs her cult. Its a little like the Colony from The Howling, but she usually tests her prey with her own version of Verbrek's Game.

Read up on the Wolf God (Gaz 4) and her bar in Gaz 1 and you won't have any problems. Her stats in 2e won't be that much use to you though, just the society information.

Hello Tobias.
I had Gazeteer I and it's in it that i found the idea of confronting my party with the howling clan (that gazeeters are great books and i plan to buy the number 4 i suppose it talks about Verbrek), i want my players to discover the whole domain of kartakass with all its mysteries 8)
I like canon Ravenloft and try to stay as close as the books as possible, actually i run the hexad campaign of Hyskosa and my party already played touch of death, night of the walking dead, the awakening and they've just finished feast of Goblyns (and they played a looot of ravenloft adventures before with their old characters who all met a cruel fate but hey we're in Ravenloft after all  )
So that's the reason why i'm still looking for canon stats of Mother Fury, but maybe it was never writen after all.
I'm still very interested for sharing informations about kartakass with other DM and know what perils did u throw to ur players within that domain.
Best regards.
