Not that it has anything to do with Ravenloft, but Frailty is also the No.1 film for Hunter: The Reckoning, a game I always thought was severly underated.

For those who suggested The Fog, you may (or may not) be pleased to hear that it is getting a remake.

I have heard about that, and like all other remakes, it fills me with dread, at least I have the original to watch whenever I want to though :)

Edit: I watched the trailer later, since it wasn't available the last time I looked at the movie updates, I am even more worried now... :(

I don't know, I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. It seems to have a lot of the important elements.
It probably won't be as good as the first, but I'd bet it will be a good film.

I have seen the first one many years ago and I liked it very much. I had also the coincidence to watch the film the exact date and time that the film says. April ... (I don't remember now the date) almost midnight! I watch it with my brother and 2 friends and we could not believe it. So, seeing it another time would be strange, at least for me because it will have much less atmosphere.

Though some of these are a bit on the gorey side, I still think the mood and creep factors make them interesting. I'm feeling a bit Clive Barker-ish, so here goes:

Hellraiser, Hellraiser 2: Hellbound, and Hellraiser 4: Bloodlines

Candyman (pondering using the origins of this guy in Souragne)

Nightbreed (I can see some of Tepest & the Shadow Fey in this one)

Sleepwalkers (maybe not a great film, but an interesting vampire spin)

House on Haunted Hill (only going to recommend the newer one since its been a really long time since I've seen the original, and BTW the soundtrack is creepy-cool)

Poltergeist (still one of the best haunted house movies IMO)

The Devil's Advocate

I just found the more recent one funny. Sure, it started well, but once the big demon came out, it turned into a farce IMO.

Oh, and the older one is not worth it either, personally.

Depends. If you want scares, no. If you want Vincent Price and Carol Ohmart acting like Nick and Nora Charles in the alternate universe where the police, after reports of the Charles' disappearance, find them in their house, a murder-suicide, with a starving Asta chewing on the bodies... well, then!

Vidocq...
At first I thought nightmares were a symptom of their madness.
It turns out, they were the cause...

Interesting fact: The original short story was set in the city of Liverpool.

Which, conicidentally, is where John Constantine comes from in the Hellblazer comics.

Although this is my first post...
I was disappointed to not see Cemetary Man listed anywhere.
Although a true enigma of a movie, It had some wonderfull methods of convincing players that they are insane.
I have had some wonderfull reactions from my players just using a few of the techniques form that film.

Oh...
And another good one, The original Nosferatu Silent film is amazing.
I had to get it from my local library but it is definatly worth picking up.
I just love the old ways of editing and the physical performance. Just paying attention to the gestures made by the actors can really add a great feel to your npcs.
Plus the scenery is excellent.

Very cool, I didn't know that. I recently got my grubby little hands on an almost complete run of Hellblazer and have been reading them since I saw Constantine. Cool comic, with great ideas for gaming!

For sheer intensity and psychological impact, I'll toss "The Hitcher" into the mix. While it's not at all supernatural, Rutger Hauer's performance makes its events chillingly plausible; I've half a mind to make this guy the Headless Horseman's more-talkative rival "road darklord", IMC.

Oh, and so long as low-budget "road-movie" horror's on my mind ... why hasn't anybody mentioned "Near Dark" yet? Oh, what fun those vampire-spawn get up to, when their hoighty-toighty master's absent and they're on the run, one step ahead of the good guys.... ;-)
