So, actually, her "marriage" was her botched ritual to enslave Azalin, and when Azalin did return, she either went into hiding (outside of Darkon, obviously), or went *poof*?Mangrum wrote:I might as well finally put this one to rest -- the mystery groom referenced here is Azalin. She was going to marry the king to become queen.gonzoron wrote:Not a child, per se, but I think I just stumbled on a possible GC reference in Gaz II. page 24. "In the weeks precedding Azalin's return, Tavelia [Kargat vamp and cleric of the Overseer] engaged in incresingly odd behavior, eventually announcing her upcoming marriage to a gentleman she refused to name. Tavelia then disappeared without a trace once Azalin returned."

As I'd mentioned before, I have a theory that Dominic d'Honaire might be a *grandson* of the GC on his mother's side. Physically he looks human, but his mental powers and precociously-filthy mind would make far better sense if he had a touch of incubus in his family background. The fact his mom died giving birth to him is a common pattern in demonspawn-lore, in or out of the game. Plus, it'd make Dominic's curse as a darklord even more ironic: a man whose demonic ancestor can magically look like any woman's ideal boytoy, cursed to magically look like any woman's ideal upchuck-inducer!

I've just had a thought to throw in front of you all. I was re-reading Gaz III - the introduction to be precise - and I've come up with another potential candiate to be an offspring of the Gentleman Caller. S.
While there's nothing in her conversation with the Gentleman Caller to suggest this, in the intro to Gaz III she mentions how her father did not believe her to actually be his child, considering her mother (who died in childbirth) to be unfaithful. She uses the term cuckoo's egg. This would certainly explain why Azalin choose her to be the subject of his great test on the demiplane, whatever that might actually be. And while the Gentleman Caller didn't make any reference to such a relationship, it's safe to say that he's going to say whatever best suits his needs, and he may very well not want her to know. I rather doubt Malocchio knows the truth of his parentage. And the little tirade the GC makes is clearly directed at Azalin, not S herself.
What do people think? Or has this been discussed to death and I just missed it?

An interesting possibility but I'm not sure. And Actually I believe the Authors haven't decided yet. Perhaps you're right, perhaps not.
As for children of the GC, well, I have no clue, but I'll check.

Intriguing. I hadn't thought of it before. She does have the sadistic streak that Vigo and Mallocchio seem to have. No deformities that we know of, though. Seems odd though that he would mention his 5 children without saying "...and you are number 5" or something.Bloody Morgan wrote:I've just had a thought to throw in front of you all. Then again, that might be a bit too "Luke, I am your father."

I mean the authors of every Gaz. Has the S&S accepted your view on S? I'm more inclined to believe that a solid story (long before the first word of Gaz I was typed as you said) for S and made by the Kargatane on top of it, will make a believable and interesting character.Mangrum wrote:Depends on what you mean by "authors." The Kargatane knew all about S long before the first word of Gaz I was ever typed.
To everybody: Do you think that we will ever see S's stats? I believe that maybe, but not on a Gaz. Perhaps in some future book about famous NPC scholars (both good and bad).

I think it would be cool to see S's stats, but if you wanted to introduce her into your campaigns, she could pretty much be anything you wanted her to be. She's obviously a scientist and a scholar, but she mixes arcane magic and knowledge of weapons (including daggers and pistols) in with it. So she's likely got several levels as a wizard, a few as an Expert.
If I were drawing up stats for her, that's probably how I would portray her in game.

While looking though Gaz 5, I found a plausible candidate on page 32. Nikko Hench is Prince Othmar's court executioner and the head of the Straffer's, which are Othmar's secret police. The Straffer's are rumored to be depraved sadists who practice cannibalism and demon worship. At least some of them are suspected of lycanthropy. In other words, Nikko sounds like the sort of son of whom the GC could be proud.
If I'm right about Hench, then I think it's plausible that the GC's children can be found in high places in government. I also suspect that the fifth child may be found in Gaz 1, since I think we've identified plausible candidates in the other 4 books. Of the 4 domains in Gaz 1, Hazlan and Barovia have the most developed governments, so I think its plausible that the fifth child lives in one of those two countries. I don't see any glaringly obvious Barovian candidates, but one possibility, found on page 38, may be the Burgomaster of the Village of Barovia, Vanda Atanasius. She is a cruel and restless widow who abuses the peasantry out of spite. The fact that she's located so close to Castle Ravenloft might make her useful to the GC in any plans he has involving Strahd.

I just wanted to come out with my opinion that Finn (Wyan's right hand man in the Tepestani Inquisition) is the 5th child of the GC that can be found in the Gazetteers. I think the authors threw us a curveball by putting two in one book to keep us off their scent.
If my supposition is true, then what do these five people in common?
1) Mysterious pasts
2) Some type of physical deformity
3) A passing mention in relation to the ruling power of whichever domain they reside in.
I think the bigger question is whether they know what they are, and if they do what are their goals and where does the GC fit into all of this. I think it's no coincidence that he found "S" in Tepest.

Granted Finn may be evil enough to be a son of the GC...he is certainly in a good position to corrupt the Inquisition, though he hasn't done so yet. But his stats are listed on page 74 of Gaz 5. Finn is a Male Human Cleric 4. If he were the GC's son, wouldn't he be described here as a half fiend? And where in Gaz 5 does it say Finn has a mysterious past or a physical deformity? Though I don't agree that a mysterious past is necessary characteristic for a child of the GC. Does Vigo Drakov, the head of the Central Prison in Falknovia, have a "mysterious past"? Drakov believes Vigo is his son. I think it plausible to assume he was raised in Drakov's court, and eventually received a high position in the Falknovian government because of his supposed connection with the King. And Maloccio of Invidia's past also seems reasonably unmysterious, especially given his appearance in the module, The Evil Eye. .
