Go home, Strahd...
That's the version I've always enjoyed using as well, he's alive but being trained.
But he lost much of his memory as he regressed in levels and age. He was little more than an actual 12yo again.

Just one idea, as we are dicussing the Time of unparalleled darkness in another thread. Given that is all very theoretical, since S&S doesn't really push the setting forward, maybe Mr Mangrum or others from the old TSR team know what was supposed to happen. *Maybe we could simply ask them what their plans were for RL after 2000?*

From what I remember Steve Miller saying it was just something for the future, some scary possibility they might get to at a later time but didn't really plot out. The Gentleman Caller did have a plan I believe, but that was before Miller left Ravenloft the first time.

Hail!

Some time ago (the end of 2004), I asked Steve Miller about his motivation behind the concept of the TOUD, and he gave me a VERY GOOD explanation.

The topic is in my RL forum, and I believe it will be gone soon, since the topics in my forum are deleted after 6 months, so I think you guys will like to take a look in it before it disapears.

Here is the link:

:D Thank you for that link!

Now, let me quote you:

Of course I´m not waiting you to tell me about what you had
planned fpr the TOUD, since you expleined it very well in to FoS website

Does that mean that Mr Miller gave an earlier hint of the event on these boards and *everyone forgot about it*... :| Now, that would be a shame...

Maybe one can contact him again somehow - after all, RL is actually quite *frozen* and even if we cannot expect another cataclysmic event in the forseeable future, we may enjoy a *pro* plot for a long and *devastating* meta-campaign...

I mean, this sounds quite promising:

Steve Miller wrote:

Whether the ToUD would alter the Demplane or destroy it is not something I'd put a whole lot of thought into (although my rough idea did indeed have Ravenloft as we know it come to a definate end... but the idea I had would have been structured in such a way that the end could be averted or delayed infinately through PC actions).

Another interesting part is where he says that he never expectted the timeline to reach the year of 775, so never hoping that some design team would have to deal with it.

And here is the link to the topic here at the FoS that I mentioned:

Desdichado wrote::D Thank you for the info!

Hopefully, we'll see VR in action again! He's such a great RPG Icon...

Would be interesting what they cook out of the Shadow Rift in the near future... Gwydion resurrected would not be so nice, I think...

:soth:
That sounds like a plan.

Any other ideas?
