Now for the monsters from Libris Mortis;
Some are inappropriate for ravenloft, dream vestige, angel of decay, boneyard, entropic reaper, atropal scion, visage, hulking corpse, and necromental.
Evolved undead would work good in ravenloft. Hooded pupils could belong to undead worshiping cults or the Eternal Order.
My favorite is the Deathlock. The corpse of a spellcaster so charged with magic that in rises again as an undead. It could represent a failed attempt at lichdom or a necromatic experiment gone wrong.

For my upcoming campaign, one of my PCs wants to shoot for True Necromancer prestige class. He knows almost nothing about Ravenloft, it should be noted, other than the fact that everything comes with a price. I've said "fine", as he can serve as an object example to the other players about messing with things man was not meant to what of. Anyone who wants to lay bets on how long it takes before he earns his own pocket domain can do so now...
Other than that, there is a lot of stuff from all those books that can be lifted, but most of it should remain in the hands of the GM, as Vile Darkness and Liber Mortis is a bit too squicky evil for most Ravenloft PCs.
I am looking forward to Lords of Madness though. Used sparingly, Lovecraftian horrors are quite fitting. I have plans to loot from a recent Dungeon adventure and have a cult worshipping an aboleth somewhere on the coast of the Sea of Sorrows...

Regarding BoVD: I've been looking through it and actually a fair bit of it-- not necessarily the prestige classes-- would adapt well to Ravenloft. Some things are awfully high-powered (spell components like dragon's hearts, for example) but other rules would actually work surprisingly well: the torture rules, for example, would be valid should someone run afoul of the authorities in Nidala or Falkovnia.
Maybe I should kick my butt to do the writeup of using BoVD in Ravenloft that I've had sitting at the back of my mind for the better part of a year now...

If you want I could dig up my old idea for a "path of the necromancer" road to darklordship.

Tell me something Hrtofdrkns, out of curiousity, is that the same one you posted to my Power Checks topic? Also, Brandi, I'd like to take a look at that Ravenloftian version of the BoVD when/if you get it done.

I agree on the atropal scion, entropic reaper, and hulking corpse. The others I think could work if used sparingly.
Particularly fitting critters from LM:
Blaspheme, Bleakborn, Crypt Chanter, Dire Maggot, Forsaken Shell (reminds me of the Boneless), Ghost Brute, Grave Dirt Golem, Murk, Raiment, Spectral Lyrist, Swarm-Shifter, Tomb Mote, Voidwraith.

I'm working on an article that converts the entirety of Complete Arcane to Ravenloft usage. So far, I just finished converting the Blood Magus prestige class.
My goal when making these is to make them as player-friendly and playable as possible, while still keeping the original flavour and being true to the laws of Ravenloft. I try and change the classes as little as possible in this regard, instead gently molding them to be as pertinent to Ravenloft as possible.

One other BoVD note: I think MadStepDad's campaign (is he still running it?) used the Dread Emperor as an NPC (quite possibly as a really weird version of Duke Gundar)...

Yep. Sorry, but coming up with origional
and new stuff is hard. It's much easier to recycle old ideas then make new ones.

Sorry, sorry. Only joking.
I am actually working on some new ideas for powers checks. I have just been destracted planning and running my campaign. It's not really even a ravenloft campaign. I just use the tougher monsters (age catagories for vampires), add in a cup of FR and Greyhawk, with a teaspoon of L5R. Mix well.
I've got a ton of stuff on my hardrive of my own making that might be usable in ravenloft, but then again mabey not. If you want I could post it.

Come to think of it, you could create a native Ravenloftian warlock class by adding some elements of the Ur-priest to their backstories, and basing their origins in Lamordia. Perhaps a cult dedicated to the Sleeping Beast has found a way to tap into the dormant marilith's power, and developed into warlocks as a result of leeching her demonic energies into their own bodies. A PC warlock might have been initiated by the cult in childhood, but ran away to escape the cult's evil and/or control, retaining the magics of the warlock class.
This would, among other things, lead to interesting consequences if a PC party were sent to destroy the Sleeping Beast. Imagine how the cult's warlocks would react to such a threat to their power-source ... or how a PC warlock might respond, knowing that his or her powers would most likely be lost if the demon is destroyed!
