Hmm...reminds me of Hollow Men from Werewolf, except maggots and flies might be a little too small for it. Actually, I remember that the cartoon Mighty Max had an episode where a vampire turned out to actually be something of a flywere nature. Either way, that's a lot of different shades of creepy right there.

It sounds like something that might happen in a domain with too much trade with Nosos. It puts new meaning to "lord of the flies".

A creepy story indeed. In the netherlands we have a problem that is somwhat the same, although on a smaller scale.

In the netherlands most cities have a service that household waste must be devided in 'common' waste and 'biological' waste, the latter being stuff such as dead plants, spoiled food, potato peel, friut and vegetables that you do not eat anymore. Those cities usually provide a large trashcan to their citizend for this biological waste.
Unfortunately you are not allowed to use plastic bags in the biological trashcan, so everytime you opn it, flies and such have acces to all the lovely waste and in the summer there can be quite the maggot problem.

A sound biological solution is however that the local robins and other birds get extremely fat.

It was Freak Legion, a Black Dog book. They were wyrm-minions who had most of their internal organs removed (typically involving a lenght of chain, some hooks, and the anus) and were then filled with vermin - rats, roaches, spiders, etc. They had no control over any bugs other than their own, unless they bought standard fomori powers to let them do so. Disgusting yes, but I used them as creepy foes a few times, so workable.

They also appeared in the much more tastefully done Guide to the Possessed, along with Gorehounds, Seducers, Braineaters, and one more who's name escapes me. Still, if you can look past the Beavis-and-Butthead approach to horror, Freak Legion did have some rather good ideas for Fomori adventures in it. I still like the "Dog Day's Night" one, but really that could be done in just about any modern game. In fact, even as I'm writting this I'm getting an idea involving zombies...

I saw way back in 2nd ed while surfing the net someone had stated out three diffrent types of 'Vermin" golems-

A rat golem that could disolve into a swarm of rats that did 2d6 damage to anyone occupying the same 5' area.

A Spider golem that would grab its enemy and try to push it through its body having the enemy emerge on the otherside encased in a web caccoon and posioned.

And a Larva golem made up of magots and grubs. Everround it could suffer a 6 HP loss in order to 'hatch' a swarm of flies and other flying insects as per a low level summon swarm.

If I ever get around to it I might stat them up for a QTR.

Didn't CoC's Worm-That-That-Walks have a similar trick?

Something like this happened to me recently, but on a much smaller scale.

Last monday my water-heater exploded, flooding my house in about 2 inches of water. To get it out we had to leave the doors open and scoop it out. The carpets started to mildew, and about a million flies apparently thought the smell of moldy carpet meant food.

It got worse. Since we had to shut off the water, we couldn't shower for three days. After the second day of scooping out water and moving furnature we smelled so bad that the flies started to swarm over us.
After awhile, I didn't even notice the flies swarming over my food...

Between the flooding and the flies, those were the worst days of my life.
