As a note, the Spell Compendium significantly revises the drown spell's effects.

Well I would like to talk about the different effects of touch that a wraith, spectre, ghoul and wight have on the individual. Hven't the stats on these undead but with a little help we can define these creatures.

If you don't mind raiding the old Greyhawk Adventures book ( AD&D 2nd ed), you can find a creature called a "Drowned One"-a 5HD nautical Super-Zombie created through divine intervention. These wretches shamble on land but swim like lightning, posses a rotting Stench attack (like troglodytes) and have a low, malicious intelligence. In addition, about 10% of them were former clerics amd can cast a few low-level spells provided by the evil god which created them. Most likely inspired by John Carpenter's "The Fog".

Apparently the official Drowned One Template is in Dungeon #106
