How did you make out the comparison?
I mean -did you work on the astrological traits of the signs?
I found a list of rough traits and tried to pick the ones best suited. But my memory on the tarokka meanings is rusty a few may be off, and there might be a better arrangement. There were a few perfect choiced but for most there wasn't alot of obvious overlap.
No reason the Ravenloft astrological signs should have identical traits anyway.

Don't forget Nova Vaasa's seven moons! :D

Well, since Nova Vaasa has now (thank-the-gods) no more than one moon and is no more bathed in eternal spring... I see no reason to remember that.
...
I was trying to FORGET that, actually.
You made me remember.
Gee, thanks a lot.

Sithicus's sky uses the constellations from Krynn (Dragonlance setting), with the exception that Paladine is gone and the stars that make up Takhsis are brighter.
AND there is only one moon, Nuitari. the black moon that is only visible to evil aligned characters. There are 3 on Krynn a red one, a white one and a black one. AND several of the remaining constellations that represent other gods besides those two have dimmed.

I would venture to say that any domain that was taken from the Prime Material Plane such as Barovia, Mordent, Sithicus,Har'akir, etc should have stars unique to their homeworld. (which may be the same homeworld in the case of Indivia, Barovia, and Mordent but then one has to figure latitude and hemishpere into which stars would be visible even if they came from the same world)
And any Domains newly created like Darkon would in my opinion, have generic constellations familiar to similar "new" domains throught the realm.

As for astrology (aquarius, cancer and the like) they are based on which constellations Polaris (the north Star) went through at what time of year. (incidently the slight wobble of the earth's axis and the expanding universe have altered this so that the old dates that astrology signs are based on are no longer acurate)

If no one else has their heart set on expanding on this, I might (okay, will) do something horoscope based for the next QtR.
All this talk has me bursting with ideas and I already thought of a way to work it in another project I have in the works (eh, screw subtle hints. It fits perfectly into Races of the Mists 3. The elf one).

The trouble with giving all the domains their own constellations is that it makes it too obvious (at least at night) when borders have been crossed. The 3X-era products have made a point of keeping characters within the setting mostly unaware that their world is a construct, or that there's anything supernatural or special about "borders"; indeed, S harps upon the oddity of Sithican night skies, apparently because they're the only ones that are so different from the skies over the rest of the Core.

Individual Islands, or the Shadowlands, might easily have constellations typical of their worlds of origin, if any. But the Core (apart from Sithicus) ought to have a single set of constellations ... those of the Barovian home world, almost certainly.

Actually, I was thinking about doing something like that...

Maybe we can work in tandem?
