Honestly, I can't really remember. I remember frequenting SotK for some time when I got Domains of Dread and was preparing for my first RL campaign, but I didn't join the messageboards before some months later, after having read most of the Netbooks. It must have been sometime during the last half of 2001, I think.

I don't remember the date but I DO remember the topic. I had been posting as a guest for while, tossing in the occational comment or little known fact. I even contributed to the 'Book of Sacrifices'. I actually began posting under the name 'Manofevil' on the Realm of Evil Games' board. I established my account on SotK when, on the RoEG board, someone suggested a Ravenloft domain based on the modern inner city gang culture. When another person took inspiration from this to suggest a domain based on George Orwell's '1984' with 'Big Brother' as the Darklord, I was inspired to suggest an entirely new version of Ravenloft based on modern horrors and science fiction. I.E. a Terminator-based domain where SkyNet is the DarkLord and the misty barrier prevents it from spreading beyond its barriers. Note: this Ravenloft would NOT coexist side-by-side with the medeival/gothic version, but separately, without any connections of any kind beyond a certain resemblance. When I didn't get much feedback on this idea from the other board, I opened an account on the Kargatane site to get some feedback from a larger audience. Obviously, nothing came of this idea, but it did lead to a very nice discussion among the community. And I've been posting ever since. If anybody else remembers this particular discussion, then THEY may be able to give you a time frame. Other than that, I can't remember.

Well, I've been a part (whether by posting, or just reading) of RL boards and mailing lists since before August 1997. Heck, I even try to slip in some RL-chatter on whatever forum or list I happen to be visiting at the time...If the opportunity to connect a topic to RL presents itself, I'm sure to be there.

Come to think of it, I measure the time I've followed Ravenloft online in the number of Netbooks I've seen published. I remember that my first article ever "printed" online was featured in the last BoS_, Sacrifices, so that must mean I've been around since about autumn 2000, since I remember getting the idea after having spent about half a year on the board. Wow. 3 and a half year. Not bad.

EDIT: Agh. No, my memory fooled me. I was accepted into the Book of Storms, but due to that being cancelled, the article appeared in the second Undead Sea Scrolls. Cursed memory. :davion:

Looks like, given the 4 choices for the poll, we've got a pretty diverse group time wise.

Shortly before the end, I posted that "Your DM watches too much Monty Python if..." thread, and that's when I realized I'd had my time setting off in the wrong direction for the whole two years I'd been there, so I'd been there since mid to late '01 or so.

I've been posting for a LONG time. I found SotK after teh first netbook release, been playing since the early 90s, and just now have been redirected here by the friendly people at Midway Haven. And after a 3 year lay-off from gaming, a group at my local hobby shop asked if i would run a Ravenloft campaign, so expect to see me posting frantic messages here in hopes of remembering how to DM!

Glad to see some old faces.....

Wiccy, thank you for the welcome. You can thank Dion at Midway for sending me this direction after my long absense. What ever became of my characters in that online campaign you were running?

::ANd in the harsh winter of Lamrdia, the party was forced to eat Professor Wachter....and there was much rejoicing::

Anyhow, I was doubly honored to find teh Malodorous Goat Netbook on this site. That was released right after I left the community. I open it, and lo and behold MY name is in a netbook! and after my name, there was some of my writing! wow, what a thrill!

I joined the winter of 2000/2001. Though after a year and a half it was fairly common for me to go for weeks without posting. I only started posting again in september, 2003, just before the sotk site died, I consider that a lucky break for myself

My campaign didn't last much longer after you disappeared, people just kept missing the gaming sessions and I called it quits after a while. I think thetime slot got bad for most people (I got a coule of e-mails saying so, but nothing from most of them).

BTW, since you always liked a bit of online roleplay, fancy joining the new Galen Saga? New characters, 10 years after the end ofthe last Galen Saga on the Kargatane forums, full guidelines for creating characters is found in the Galen Saga forum.
