I hope everyone is enjoying the campaign so far. Any questions/comments/concerns?
This plot is quite the puzzle. Good show thus far, and looking forward to finding out how all the pieces fit together.

Norzak casts detect creature. It is a spell from Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved p.254. This is the jist of the spell.

Range 60 feet
1/4 circle emanating from you to the extreme range of the spell.
Duration: Concentration, up to one minute/level.
You can detect the aura that surrounds a given type of creature being sought(i.e GIant, Dragon etc).

1st round presence or absence of the specified creature.
2nd round # of specified creatures in area and strength of the strongest one present.
3rd roundThe strength and location of each creature. If a creature is outside your line of sight, you discern its direction but not its exact location.

Strong 5-10
Overwhelming 11+

Length Aura Lingers

Now, can Norzak maintain the spell while indicating to Benn or Denys which way the carriage should go?

I suppose so. Though he needs to concentrate, he can still speak can't he?

I'm going to rule that he can speak, but not hold a conversation. Pretty much all he can do is to say ''left here'' and'' keep going this way'' and stuff like that. Thinking out loud, basically.

I thought as much! Ok so I'll need some directions boss!

The route involves a few turns and bends. Rather than actually spell out all the changes in course in-game, we can probably just say that Norzak passes along directions to either Denys or Benn, who in turn relay them to the driver.

Fair enough.

Duration of Norzak's spell just expired. Now, based of what the spell showed him, Norzak can hazard a guess at the current location of the knight. Of course, once you get in the general area, you may need to do some footwork/poking around to actually find him.

As an aside, I am having lots of fun running this campaign. I plan on making it a fairly long running one. I will probably handle XP/leveling up in a rather abstract manner: each surviving party member will gain one level at the end of each adventure/chapter [subject to DM approval, naturally. I may slow down the progression if you guys end up getting to be high level, of course].

PS, You are still on the first chapter, guys.

Raf, Cirdan got an unmodified 19, confirmed crit, with 20 points of damage dealt in a single blow. His foe isn't dead, but he's certainly incapacitated.
