Cities of the Core. Details some of the locations you might find inside some of the most important cities of the core. Using the old maps as a basis, and the gazeteers as a guide, you could flesh out Ludendorf, Port-a-Lucine, Mordentshire, etc...
I would have liked to have seen more details on the cities than in the gazeteers...
Nice idea, since overalll setting description might serve you very well, but what one needs in the end, are simple streetmaps, building maps and so on...

As a note, yes, RL3E/RLPHB plays coy with Bluetspur to preserve some mystery for the players.
That said, in the RLPHB, the term "illithid" appears on pg. 19 and "mind-flayers" appears on pg. 85.
Denizens of Darkness (can't find DoDread at the moment) touches on the "mind flayers" and "Illithid God-brain" of Bluetspur on pg. 143. The RL DMG also mentions both terms on pg. 18.

Streetmaps and the like can be found in most adventures, they tend to describe the cities and key buildings nicely.
They'd either have to be copied or ignored, if other cities are not focues on...

The same text appears on page 191 of Denizens of Dread, 'Subdweller' section.
As an aside, I just bought the sourcebook, 'Unveiled Masters - The Essential Guide to Mind-Flayers' by Paradigm Concepts, a company that does not have a licensing agreement with WotC similar to Arthaus/Ravenloft AFAIK, and the following statement appears in the credits page, "Mind Flayer is copyright Wizards of the Coast, Inc. and is used with permission. Use of Mind Flayer in this publication does not constitute its issue as Open Gaming Content."

Just for the reoord: In the legal papers of my JG modules, it is said that *Mindflayer* and *Carrion Crawler* are used with specific permission of WotC. Think it'll be the same with RL... Just gotta reread the legal stuff...
Great way to milk some more mo' out of 3rd party users...
