They said they wouldn't post here for a long time, and I don't blame them. If I were a RL author I'd think twice before saying so here, based upon how some have been treated.

FWIW, they did make one more post after saying they wouldn't post again, so they appear to still be lurking and it may be possible to convince them to resurface. At any rate I think the Duo have had their share of bile for the next year or so. Let's not let this thread turn into another witch hunt, please.

But how can you resist? How long has it been since we had a good old-fashioned witch hunt? 100 years? 200?
Information seems to come my way whether by chance or by fate, but all this means, is that I have yet to find out what will kill me and why. - The Stygian Inquirer

Not all that long, an 8 year old girl was tortured by her own family not so long ago for being suspected as being a witch! She was also assaulted by several of her school teachers and classmates (though the news failed to mention those bits to openly). I forget exactly when it happened, but it was big in the news here in Britain last month.

If you don;t count that, there was a witch hunt in California in 1947 where several people were hung for being suspected witches :(.

And since Steve and Rucht also stayed here since *the great rant*, maybe J&N also do...

I've 5 levels of Witch Hunter at least, only for the record.

Well Daisy, I have maxed out the Hallowed Witch PrC and gone a little beyond it, lol. Shame they don't have PrC's that go beyond 10 levels in Ravenloft :(

Reminds me of the days when the Kargatane were getting comments that we should go back to netbooks, because we weren't up to writing the real stuff.

How rude!

I don't recall ever reading that. Where was it posted, on the K board ?

I believe it was one of the R3E reviews we posted on the site.

As I didn't read all the reviews on the site I was not aware you guys ever got comments like that among them, I'm sorry to hear about such words made about the books. However, was the person responsible aware of who wrote the book they said that about? lol.

I found it in my archives ... (thanks Google desktop)

It was for RL3e:

(not saying who wrote it, but it's not a regular here, at the K, and WotC)
Since I don't have time to write a short novella like some of these reviewers. I will keep my comments short and sweet. The last Soth book by James Lowder (whom I felt just slapped his name on and let another person write) is reminescent of my feelings for this book. Even for the discounted price that I purchased this book,(under $20) I still feel cheated. I think that White Wolf dropped the ball by letting hack writers develop this book. This is pure fanzine quality stuff. Kargatane or no Kargatane I feel that this was a subpar effort from White Wolf who usually publishes some very quality products. If I were to recommend either the Domains of Dread book or this one, by far and away I would recommend the later. (This one stinks)
*lol* The great thing about this kind of review is that he explains in lenght what he didn't like.

Yeah, I think that's the one. Anyone who thinks the Kargatane got nothing but love letters from the fanbase is living in a fairy tale. I mean, heck, by the end MadStepDad and his crew were actually making physical threats.

ETA: Fixed a typo.

"There has never been an age that did not applaud the past and lament the present"

Sums up the feelings to the K pretty well.

I like how he says he'd choose the latter, when the latter of the two IS the Ravenloft 3E. Heh.

Hehehe, this would be a tough encounter. A witch may be evil, a witch HUNTER is certainly mean.

BTW, any news from WW or the dark duo somewhere? - They seem to have vanished altogether. I even posted on the WW boards to get a definitive answer, but noone cared to answer. :|
