Hi,
this is to tell you Joël has sent me the file and I've been taking a loot at it.
It can easily be put into a convenient format without automatic cross-referencing (links): Excel, Access, Plain Text, etc.
The point is, there should be a program on top of that storage format that could retrieve the information and decorate it with a nice page. What do you think would be the most convenient form to read? An HTML page? A word document with links or something else?
I don't have experience with wiki, so I don't know if they extract their information from a DB. I didn't want to do something that gave me a lot of work if then it wouldn't be useful, so I'm trying to understand where we should go from here.
Bottomline is: the info is easily retrieveable.

Right, that's exactly what wiki or dbman would do. I think html is best. A word document would be cumbersome I think. Aside from crashing every now and then, I think the catalogue as it stands at the K site is pretty perfect. And if it's up on a maintained site, the crashing shouldn't be an issue. If people want a downloadable form, we could work on that too.

Wiki does extract it's info from a db, but different wiki programs use different db formats. Since this file was formatted for dbman, and it's free, I see no reason not to just continue using it.
Unfortunately my web server doesn't allow scripting, so I can't take it for a test-drive in my sandbox. But if the FoS is willing to turn over the keys to their site temporarily, I think I could set up dbman here pretty quickly.

I second that. It would be the easiest way.
Plus, being online meant that it could be updated and expanded.
As it is, though, I have all the information always available at my fingertips without minimum searching

Yeah, that was me. Now the Ravenloft catalogue is back though, I'm pretty much halting it, as I don't have that much database space, unfortunately (certainly not enough for a Wiki that anyone can edit).
