But with Canadian Grammar and Spelling.
The Remnants have one saying to represent loss, disappearance, exile, and death. It is Shiao Marests, "Taken by The Shadows".

If Zheresia does become a Gazetteer, I might go with Americanized spellings except when printing excerpts of native speech and writing. Similarly, if there's a in-character reason for a sentence to have bad grammar or misspellings, that would be left alone.

FWIW, if the Frat does decide to take me up on the job, I'll provide a thorough change log, especially if I find a sentence may have to be rewritten to avoid ambiguity (in the example I'd posted above, I'd probably change "his mother and two sons" to "his mother, himself, and his brother" or even "his remaining family", since the two sons aren't the sons of the man whose father died!); that way the writers can make sure everything is to their liking.

Some are errors because Joel speaks French as his native tongue so anything he wrote might differ in spelling and grammer, to say nothing of readability. I've tried to learn other languages -it's hard- so I'm impressed Joel is as biligual as he is.
So it was my job to revise much of what was written for clarity followed by editing for length, from all the submissions.
Editing is not my strong suit so much of the goofs can be laid at my feet. I'm sorry, my bad.

Don't worry about it, David and Joel. The book is over 100 pages, so editing mistakes are going to happen, especially when you're donating what free time you can. It's still a good job. I notice because I've been studying grammar and editing for the last year.

Exactly. I found even later that in my husband's longer fiction pieces I'd still missed things simply because sometimes it seemed like I'd just end up *looking* at the text for so long that I was no longer *seeing* errors, if you get my drift.

That happens more than I'd like to admit. Actually, I almost cannot edit my own work because I know my rhythm and flow and know what words I'm expecting to read, so I skim over parts and miss typos. Of course, glaring errors jump out as breaks in my rhythm.... most of the time.

It happens to everyone, even professionals. After reading over the document for the uptenth time your mind, conciously or not, knows what is supposed to be there and can gloss over the gaps. For example, they're discovered that it is possible to read jumped words as long as the first and last letter are in the correct place.

This is why we have errors in professional books. Even the best editors miss things.

Ya David, definately do not hold yourself down on spelling.

Ok, so there are a few spelling and grammatical errors. But who cares about making baby Shakespeare cry, we all do it. It's readable, and that's what counts. I certainly hope that people will over look the minor things.

And so help me if someone starts complaining about the product quality of the Fraternity Gazetteers.

Hello everyone,

I just downloaded this! Wow! My computer has been down for a few days. The wait was even longer for me!!! Arrgh!!!

I just skimmed through this and I am very impressed so far. It looks very thorough, original and professional.

It was a very quick look, but some of the art even reminded me of Talon’s a little… (Am I crazy?)

(Ok, quite a few typos, but I can live with this considering it is fan made.)

I will try to read this quickly!

Please let's do a Paridon Survey!
(Joël you can hound me so I contribute!)

With all the talk of Paridon, I just want to toss in my vote again for the Shadowlands... (Paridon's great and all, but don't want the Shadowlansd to be overlooked!)

Now that we have a precedent for formatting, Gonz, I don't see why we couldn't have more than one Survey in preparation at a time. The Paridon-fans do have a head start, and should be the first ones to have their work critiqued and edited by the moderators, but if others are really gung-ho to start rough-draft work on other domains, I say let 'em! Better, IMO, to sieze the opportunity while everyone's inspired to do their best. :D

This would not only avert further arguments over "Who's next?", but it'd ease off pressure on the moderators to shoulder quite so much of the burden for future domains' surveys. We could harness the writing-ability of more volunteers -- volunteers, who probably know their pet domains' canon lore better than anyone -- by having multiple projects in the works at a time. It would let us see results more regularly, if several teams are working at once, especially with summer just around the corner and more free time available to those of us who'd otherwise be tied up with classes (be it as overworked students or underpaid professors  ).

Timing is everything.

Ideally, the one Gaz should probably wait until the submission due date of another Gaz is over. This is so that people are not overwhelmed by the number of projects going on. We could still have more then one gaz working, while not drawing the Forum people in many different directions. Likewise, after we get the Paridon Gaz out, I'm probably going to lay it low on projects, because if the Zherisia project is a hit there will likely be others interested in writing the surveys.

I also if there is a Shadowlands gaz I wouldn't be interested in playing as big of a role as I am in the Zherisia Gaz, but I would certainly like to submit some stuff, primarily art.

I'm kind of swamped as it is now, but in the end its the call of the Shadowlands freaks and the frat mods. Not to mention, there's the 13th QoTR coming out.

Roti does have a good idea with different people working on their favorite domains, however.

And for your worries, Gonzo, I'm pretty sure the Shadowlands are the highest priority, as it technically got the majority of votes, and is a forum favorite.

Not to mention, when we're done the Paridon Gaz, this means that we can all jump ship over to the Shadowlands, thus giving it an even bigger majority, muahahaha...
