Hey speaking of that portly genius, has anybody read GRRM's Fevre Dream? From what I've been told it's very Ravenloftish.

Naw, seems reasonable. You know he's a magic man. You just aren't aware of the nature and extent of his powers.

Jon Snow rawks.

Or, I thought so.

How are you liking the books thus far?
So far so good. I want to know more about Danys and her buddah! And why dire wolves are there and haven't been seen in years. Also the wildlings and others, I wanna know more about them too!
Keep reading. You get more on all those things in this book and the rest.

How soon can Dorgio get to the trial? Or is there any reason Dorgio would be prevented from going?

No reason. In fact, Captian Thibault will lend you a horse so that you can get there sooner.

Okay, can we assume that happened and pick up with Dorgio at or near the trial?

Yes- Dorgio can have high-tailed it to the Hall of Justice. He'll be stopped outside by gendarmes and questioned.

Note on laws:

As you may have noticed, the ACLU would cry if they saw this trial. Remember, this is a more or less medieval culture. All persons are not equal before the law, the accused have fewer rights than in the United States, and punishments can be rather harsh by our modern American or European standards. Yes, torture may be used to extract information under certain circumstances. On the other hand, long imprisonments are quite rare.

A tidbit:
Rapists may be castrated.

This is still way better for Gal than him being tried in my version of Falkovnia. There, he'd automatically be made a slave, and probably forced to fight wild dogs for the amusement of the soldiers, Don't even ask what would happen to his wife.

In Barovia, he'd have been lynched last night.

Did Galandel see Dorgio come into the court?
History prefers legends to men. It prefers nobility to brutality, soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle and forgets the blood. What ever history remembers of me if it remembers me at all, it shall only be the fraction of the truth.

Will update later today; just trying to figure out how to pull Galandel out of the fire. But if anybody can B.S., surely it's a priest! :D

Adam, John knows of someone who can possibly help us magically which is why he is asking to take both weapons to that person, Mr Mirabulos. Maybe one of the gendarmes or the captain have heard of his shop.

By due consideration the magistrate meant "Before this trial it was determined you would be hanged cause you are an elf!" :azalin:

Or maybe: because you killed the gendarmes over a petty dispute about a fine?

Could be that, too. :azalin:
