That was me. I had this whole elaborate interrogation scene planned out, but it fell through IC after Cirdan decided to take the more "direct" approach.

Yes, I think we were all caught off guard by Cirdan's sudden attack upon Jonathon.

Overall, I think the Wolutha episode was my favorite part of the entire campaign, especially through the growing tension between the characters.

(Not to say I didn't like the rest, of course. It was just the time I personally felt our game had the best mojo.)

As for the future, my modest demand is that everybody returns for a sequel, and that the sequel be so soon we still remember many details from this campaign.

Now, I still have a load of questions, but not the time to write them all up (exam week, right now).

So, in short, this campaign concludes five years that I have been playing here at the Cafe, at least for the time.
Since I will probably not roam these halls to often any more until "the mists rise over the Musarde again", my best regards to all of you in the meantime.

JMaytr - as to our little riff raff this spring, my belated, but sincere apologies for getting all fired up on you. I used way more vitriol than would have been appropriate, and for that I am sorry. Without your play, the campaign would have been less exciting, and I look forward to slay some more demons with you in the future.

Ironically Cirdan probably saved Dorgio's life. Up until Cirdan attacked Jon, Dorigo was about to walk right into the freakin' mists because Jon had wounded Dorgio's pride.

Eh, I kind of stayed away from doing anything to go after Jon because A) I'm not used to having an antagonist planted in the party from the word go B) the kid basically just seemed from everything I had seen to be painfully overreacting to the dwarf's interrogation techniques, and C) we had all that OOC strife when Cirdan died. More than anything, C) kind of convinced me to leave it alone outside of a few suspicious pms between Dorgio and I (we were halfway convinced Ewan was actually JMaytr).

Was Wolutha actually a servant of Incabulos? She seemed like the opposite of that, frankly.

Also, it was hinted that Renault may not actually have been dead (falling in the river, and whatnot.)

Rob chose to play an evil PC, as did Tarlyn. Norzak was NE. In both cases, I approved the PC because he wasn't designed to directly oppose or attack the other PCs. Jonathon had his own agenda, much of which was compatible with that of the party, and wasn't really an antagonist until after Cirdan attacked him. Evil the whole time, but not a 'bomb character' planted just to make trouble. He was quite interested in helping the party take down the Witch and other Night-Things, after all.

Renault the Druagr came back from the river, but was later cut down 'neath the Grim Bastion. He was defeated and destroyed by your party.

Wolutha was not a minion of Incabulos. As Adam notes, she was in many ways their opposite- a deadly foe of their cult.

The gangster cultists were essentially an organized crime outfit dressed up in religious imagery. This was the Doctor's idea. Malreux, Rneault , Van Diecks, and the Doctor were the only four full members, but they had goons, zombies, and dupes. The Doctor had read of the ancient cult, and though to ressurect it for his own ends. His researches led him to the portal and to the items tied to it- namely the mirror.

The mirror was linked to Wolutha's realm, as you guys figured out in play.

Van Diecks fell under Wolutha's influence when using the magic mirror- a fact not known by the Doctor or Renault (Malreux was dead by then, having been offed by the party at the end of the first chapter).

The baddies hoped to find magical items and lore in Wolutha's realm. They had patial information on the land, and didn't know that they might enocuter Wolutha herself. They didn't know she was a ghost, after all. Van Diecks knew she was still around- but he wasn't telling the others, because of the charm person effect channeled through the mirror.

Aha, that clears a lot up. It's funny how much of a difference the little differences can make.

I always kind of struggled with Norzak, frankly, as OOC I wanted the game to go on but I was always trying to come up with a reason why Benn IC wouldn't have just walked off when the brutality started, as it was very much not his thing. Same with some of the struggles with Jon. Thankfully, a shark came along to helpfully solve the problem with Norzak, and I suppose now Jon's no longer a problem, so I guess chalk it up in the win column.

Jon was very interested in the party for 3 reasons, and for those reasons Jon didn't want to harm or let harm fall on the group:

1: As a child, Jon needed protection. The party provided that.
2: Jon blames monsters for his mothers death, although she died by a lynch mob. The party hunted monsters and for this reason Jon allied himself with them.
3: Jon wanted to be around "heroes" to learn how heroes acted.

Jon was always worried about Dorgio and Benn. There were many times when I told Ewan that I had to kill them to protect myself-think Hannibal Lecter attacking Agent Graham in Red Dragon. He does it because he suspects Graham is on to him even though they are allies.

I didn't for the top 3 reasons.

Funny you should mention that; Dorgio is partially based off Graham, especially as portrayed by William Petersen in Manunter.

Norzak was a shadowsworn pc. That class is detailed in Monte Cook's Book of Roguish Luck. I loosely based him on Bruenor Battlehammer and believe it or not Yosemite Sam He was under the impression he was lightly worshipping a Shadow god but in fact he was worshipping the two Shadow dragons supposedly in Darkon [Dread possibility in one of the Gaz I think.]

I really was disappointed by his death but never once did I complain and made a new pc Franz. In retrospect I should not have played him or even John. Sometimes you have the idea for a pc and you can't put your finger on him for some reason. I was yahooing with ewan and had previously had a chat with Rafael about a certain DC comic character. And it hit me that is the one I have been wanting to play!

So whenever this game restarts I have my pc with a very detailed background [10 pages!] You all should recognize him for which character I am referring to. Brock knows cause I talked to him about it. If Benn didn't like Norzak well heheheheheeh!

I had doubts about Jon myself but Norzak loved him like a son and would have protected him to the death. I really enjoyed ewan's game with you guys and gals [Van] and hope we all play his game together when the sequel restarts!


Like everyone else I was sure VD was alive as was Renault.
