They had come to town while doing research for a book, following up an an old case of their Uncle's work. This case may figure in later, if the party ever meets the twins.

If Dofur had more actively pursued his goal of finding Van Richten, you all would very likely have found the twins. As it turned out, events developed too rapidly for this to happen. Dofur didn't have much time to go around town asking questions about VR. Galandel's murder of the gendarmes really threw a monkey wrench in the party's plans.

Mind you, I'm not complaining! I like surprises.
