Is it "Sedgwick" or "Sedgewick" for Alanik Ray's companion Arthur? I checked a number of resources, and it's basically exactly 50/50 depending on the book. I stuck with "Sedgwick" as that's how it's spelled in both RCS and RPHB (so if it was a typo in RCS, I expected it would have been corrected in RPHB), but this is still a bit of a matter of contention...

And from the "Borca's Dread Possibilities" thread, I did add in the three plays listed by Mangrum that were cut from the final product. I should maybe recheck the "Author's Notes" sections again to see if there are other book titles in other authors' notes...

Oh, crud, thinking about it, I'm not finished with this list! I totally forgot about Van Richten's Guide to the Mists, so that's not on there at all. Please give me a little while to get that added, and I'll have an updated list after that.

* Ancient Tales of the Vistani - VRA lists the author as being unknown. However, in the source novel "Castle of the Undead" (a Ravenloft "Choose Your Own Adventure" book from which the prophecy quoted in VRA comes from, along with the idea of the Bloodknife and the vampire Velkaarn) , the ghostly librarian Ayre claims to have penned a book called Legends of the Vistani, as reported by The Giamarga in the thread The Bloodknife. The book names seem too similar, so it seems fair to assume the two books are one-and-the-same and thus attribute the book to Ayre.

** Catalogue of the World Entire - As per GazIV, this was "commissioned by Camille Boritsi shortly before her death." As she died in 711 BC, several familiar Core domains had not yet been revealed by the Mists by this point. These are: Hazlan (714 BC), Dorvinia (715 BC), Sithicus (720 BC) and Verbrek (730 BC). It would also include several non-familiar Core domains, like Bluetspur, the Nightmare Lands, G'Henna and Markovia, all of which left in the Great Upheaval. See Jester's pre-Great Upheaval map

Hate to break this to you, guys, but we may have overlooked the most thoroughly-documented of all publications within the game-setting: the books we've all been reading this stuff out of! No book-list should omit the in-character versions of the volumes that our IRL game-products are ostensibly based upon, so we really ought to list them for references' sake.

No worries there, Roti. But I apologize if I've misguided you as to the scope of this project. I hadn't meant to make an authoritative list of ALL books referenced throughout the Ravenloft products (mostly because I don't own all of them), but just an authoritative list of all books mentioned in the 3.0/3.5 products.

For instance, on my list above, you'll see Van Richten's Guides to the Ancient Dead, the Created, the Lich, Vampires, and the Vistani, all of which were referenced in 3.0/3.5 books. I didn't reference the Guide to Ghosts, Werebeasts, Witches, Fiends, etc as they weren't referenced in the 3.0/3.5 books anywhere. This is not to say that such books don't exist, but rather that it's outside of the scope of this project.

That said, I am tempted to be more ambitious and try to go through the 2nd Ed products as well. John Mangrum created such a list back in the past (as seen earlier in this thread, as GonzoRon provided the list), so it can be done, so I am tempted to duplicate it with the additional references. As I said above, I don't own all of the Ravenloft books (I have almost all of the adventures, modules, etc but have basically none of the novels), but I could do a pretty fair job if we wanted to create a truly definitive list.

I'm an "old fogey" Ravenlofter from the beginning, so I can check my shelves for any old products (I've got all the novels BTW) that you don't have on hand, to look for more citations. But that's only if you're sure you really do want to continue this; if the 3E stuff is enough for you, that's plenty to keep us reference-hunting DMs happy for a looooong time.

Thank you for your kind words. And no, I don't feel any particular pressure to expand my original aim, though I am tempted to expand and complete it anyway. I've wanted a list like this for a long while and I figured, might as well step up rather than expecting others to do this for me. And I had just expected others to do it, which was silly when I thought about it. But I feel no need to do this, other than it pleases me to do it.
