Sadly spoken language is not my strong point (I stammer, as opposed to stutter) while my brain and mouth never synch up to boot. So if I do speak it has to be slowly, focused, and if I'm nervous (which is 96% of the time) I default to a very formal pattern of speech. A Japanese-American friend says I remind him of his grandparents who are still used to the Far Eastern ideals of courtesy and politeness. And, to be honest, I kind of do expect at least a modicum of both in my social dealings. Which is one reason I'm seriously considering quitting WoW; the most "vocal" (in a game where communication is all text) players are rude, crude, and say the filthiest, most bigoted things just because they can from the anonymity of a virtual avatar. Unless people report their reprehensible language--which many don't anymore. Though Blizzard has lost so many subscriptions (12 million in 2011, seven million as of July 2013 and by all accounts losing more every month) and is putting out so many deals for in-game items bought with real money lately it looks like the game is going to be put out to pasture in favor of something new as their moneymaker.

hmm... to tell you the truth in your typing it doesn't seem that bad at all. :D

Anyways I will agree however that online typing is a lot more verbal of the horrible language, and worst cursing ever. Though same with online games... it's pretty sad when you play with a 10 year old that curses over Xbox live more than you ever did until you were 18!

When I couldn't stomach the swearing and other, far more vile things other players say I had begun to settle down and mature into an early middle age. I blame the parents, as should everyone who tries to blame music, comics, movies, TV, games (video and otherwise), books, and every other moral scapegoat in history. But they won't. Because humanity never changes. So we get players who say things that sound more appropriate to an adult movie than even an M-rated video game. Sometimes it's not even kids but full-grown adults who are the worst offenders. Sad, really. It's just a game but they act like it's their entire lives--or it really is all they live for. Which isn't sad, it's downright pathetic and creepy.

On a Real Life Fear/Horror/Madness note, I've discovered that chronic gastritis (thank you so much, Asperger's) and highly acidic things like marinara sauce don't mix. Also my insurance has begun ordering my prescriptions refilled in three-month increments unless it's legally restricted (like Vyvanse) so I get a co-pay of $80-100+ per refill. Kind of hard to pay that when I'm still paying off medical bills from over a month ago. So, SelectHealth, I wish you eaten alive by sharks. Corporate sharks, specifically. They enjoy torturing their food before consuming it.

Olfactory complications

LomboDot went shopping with me. I bought a new shampoo which had Old Spice cologne added.

LomboDot needed to wash her hair and so she borrowed my shampoo.

The following workday, her office colleagues (all female) asked her what intriguing new perfume she was wearing. She responded that she wasn't wearing any.

They treated her to lunch.

I thought this was funny.

It works! lol though i'm curious which old spice shampoo that was.... o.o' I've always liked their smells compared to other smells like AXE.... ugh.... *chokes and dies*

Does it count as a horror or madness that every time you see a halloween store all you can do is smirk and think....

'Ah that's right. My birthday is coming soon.... won't be long before everyone is celebrating it.'

This might be followed by the thought that I was born the same day one of my friend's uncles died, and near the same time. I believe his name was my name or close to it if I recall correctly. :D

Old Spice, the only Spice Girl most of us will ever get close to. And, for the record, I prefer Axe. The underarm sticks, actually, since I don't use cologne. Never wanted to.

This is something I've wanted to try but never had the resources (i.e., the fragrances). Supposedly the combined smells of cucumber and licorice...ah, "stimulates" women. Lavender and pumpkin pie spice are supposed to do the same to men, just in case any ladies on the boards get a chance to test that out. Some aromatherapy factoids that just stuck with me for reasons that should be obvious.

Man, I remember the Spice Girls. But I don't remember their names. I don't even remember how many there were, which is odd given that I was in Britain during their formative years as a band. I keep getting them mixed up with the Seven Dwarves.

Stroppy - Shirty - Punky - Bolshy - Narky - Snarky - Huff.

How many did I get right?

I have a strange sense of smell. I can smell a lot of things with extreme sensitivity - ozone I especially can smell very well, and I can usually tell if there's been a recent lightning strike in a neighborhood by the smell of ozone. My parents are unable to smell this and I find it very odd.

I'm also able to smell cooking scents very strongly, which causes problems for me. Usually after I'm done cooking a meal and eating it, I'll have to jump in the shower to get the smell out of my hair. Even though my roommates or friends tell me they can't smell anything, it still bothers me because I can smell it. I'll often have two, sometimes three, showers per day on this alone.

However, my sense of smell appears to have a number of unusual deficiencies. I can't smell certain plant odors, including blueberries (which I've been told have a weird funky odor - to me they're completely odorless). I'm also unable to smell cannabis or hemp in any form whatsoever. I've been walking down streets in hippie quarters of liberal cities (or just in Asian cities where hemp is used often as a cloth material or paper material) and people I'm with will say "I smell hemp" and I'll smell nothing. I once helped my landlord clean up a property after an eviction, and he held up some discarded open soda cans which he claimed reeked of pot. I could not detect any odor whatsoever.

They say that quantum perturbations may be related to the sense of smell. (BBC News link.) A report in 2011 forwarded this idea that smells were not just how molecules and atoms rested on receptor cells in the nose, but also how their quantum vibrations affected the receptor cells. If so, then your nose is the only organ that can detect quantum changes in the world around you. That's pretty damn cool!

I can smell 50% of my parents (I can smell SmallMom but not LoudDad), and I can smell my brother (HDT) - their smells are comfortable and reassuring, like happiness and childhood. I cannot smell LomboDot at all - she's like the olfactory equivalent of a stealth fighter.

Lol interesting fact of smells. For a long time I couldn't smell 'pot' because I didn't know what it smelt like even though I grew up with a Father who smoked it quite frequently. I thought it was apart of 'his smell' you know just the smell no one else has. I might get a faint qiff of it here and there and recognize a 'familiar smell' but not be able to pin it down. Now that I know what it is I can smell it or identify it more frequently.

On the topic of Girl's smell, I find my girlfriend's body odor like a perfume. (she finds this really odd, but I guess it's a plus for me) I've numerous times thought she was wearing a perfume/deodorant and been mistaken by her body smell. (Again very odd, never thought someone could smell good sweaty. xD I know I don't!)

Actually it's quite natural and common. Humans are just as influenced by scent as other animals. Most just don't realize it. As for smelling good sweaty, that's a combination of genetics, lifestyle, emotional state, and any medications being taken. I, myself, am quite musky by nature. Which is why I don't wear cologne. Various women friends have told me I don't need it.

On an unrelated note, I was going to make another "Middle Age and Me" entry until I realized the punchline is moot in my case. I was born without the ability to hear sounds within a certain range. That range including a woman yelling and screaming. I don't have to fake it; I literally can't hear her until she calms down! :D

On loyalty

I'm currently working on a Chinese project. It pays very well but the hours are literally causing me to age prematurely. (The girlfriend sat up in bed and starred at me and said "YOU HAVE A LOAD OF GRAY HAIR ON YOUR TEMPLE" and she wasn't exaggerating :( )

I have a job interview tomorrow, a second round interview with an attorney regulatory entity. Just now, I received an email from another place I interviewed with earlier, confirming their offer of a job position to me, and with a sample contract and asking me to meet with them to take care of job paperwork.

After far too long looking for work, and a brief period of joint joblessness and homelessness last year, this situation is deeply confusing to me and I'm not sure how to handle having there potential job positions.

I'm going to deal with this by going out and finding a place that will sell me a chicken vindaloo. And then I am going to eat it.

It's an Indian (that's Hindu, not Amerind) curry dish of spiced meat, usually pork but chicken, beef, lamb, shrimp, and others are made. Sadly since developing chronic gastritis I can't eat it anymore since it's so spicy. All I can eat are the poppadoms which aren't that great without the curry.

Just got out of the interview. They offered me the job.

Now I really do have two job offers to weigh. This, in addition to a murderously demanding current job.

I'm going to draw a few SWOT diagrams to help me out. I would pray if I were religious, but as I'm Chinese I'll just consult my parents instead. I have no chickens to sacrifice, but numerous chicken curries will suffice. My girlfriend, herself in the midst of a job search, veers between "OMG I'm so happy for you" to "goddammit Bing stop hogging all the jobs".

The last time I was forced to choose between two equally alluring prospects... Aze was slightly morose.

As I work at a mental hospital I cannot speak of most of my fear, madness and horror checks.

Real life?

Having a Bandidos member fiddle around with a pocket knife in front of me asking me if I want to die when I was the doorman at a teenage disco. Fear check after the fact as I didn't quite realize the gravity of it all.

Waking up after a night of binge drinking with blood on my hands not remembering anything. Insta-horror.
