This door reminds me strongly the scene from Lord of the rings. When they had to say the password to open the giant door to enter in Moria. There they had to say in elvish "friend". Maybe is something like that but has to be said in Draconic since the sign is in Draconic.

This door is very similiar to Eternal Order lore in which an obsidian door opens to a land that the first mortal traveled to. This land was said to be full of death but also full of secrets. This door was only supposed to show up when catastrophies strike, and anyone who ever went through the door never returned. If this is because the door moved or they couldn't get back once through the door the lore never explains.

Eternal Order Lore states that the land beyond is called Lordran and it is home to one of the death gods believed to exist amongst their patheon.

You've heard tales of doors like this appearing whenever a disaster had struck somewhere. Often it is said only to linger for a time, and the town it appears near is always left empty all it's residences supposively left through the door never to return without a trace.

There are only 2 accounts of this in history, and they may not be accurate for if no one was left how do they know the door was there in the first place?

Most just thought it was made up in scripture in the Eternal Order, though some claim it used to be based off a real place. The Undead were said to have taken it back for the worship of a foreign god. It is usually placed where the Shadow Rift currently sits.
