I'm not at the bar, but I'm sure I'll hear Jonathon at some point mention the doctor. What's the situation with him in your game? Is he in Bleak House at this point or still running around? I only ask, because Van Richten's guides were likely either the source or a derivative source for much of Benn's knowledge of monsters, given that not many other scholars are willing to tackle the subject.

Yeah, same with Dorgio. I know the Van Richten guides were banned in Barovia, but I'm assuming that 1) some of the knowledge filtered down to the Dawnbringers in one form or another and 2) Dorgio began searching for the books once he came to Pont a Musarde.

If the Weathermay-Foxgrove twins haven't published The Guide to the Walking Dead yet in your campaign, then disregard Dorgio's comment about the "latest volume." Leave in the lechery, though.
